At the onset, it is firmly believed that no building on earth could be “Seismic Proof “, due to the causes and effects of the location, intensity and duration of an earthquake. Therefore, at the most what can be done to ensure maximum protection to the life and existence of a structure and its occupants After a probable earthquake in that zone, is to understand and anticipate its behaviour during the Seismic event, and to detail the concrete sections and reinforcement, especially at the connections in case of Precast Prefabricated Concrete buildings. More than the amount of reinforcement, the detailing of the connections or the junctions, along with the method of concreting / grouting these connections whether wet in situ or dry precast remain moot questions. The most important of these junctions are related to the column beam connections, which are the most affected locations, and detailing these areas is of prime importance. In case of any substantially powerful earthquake, the aim should be, to be able to withstand it, save the structure with its occupants, and presuming that there could be resultant damage, to be able to resurrect it as far as possible to its originally conceived state.
