EFCC Officer reportedly absconds with $30,000 and valuables in Kaduna
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is embroiled in another controversy as an officer from its Kaduna Zonal Office, tasked with managing exhibits, has reportedly vanished along with over $30,000 and other valuables.
This comes shortly after the agency detained 10 officers in Lagos for failing to account for missing operational items. While the EFCC has not disclosed specific details, investigations by DailyNigerian revealed that the missing items include gold bars valued at over ₦1 billion, $180,000, and £140,000.
In the latest incident, a staff member known only as Polycarp disappeared after being unable to explain the whereabouts of the $30,000, DailyNigerian reports.
Insiders who preferred anonymity told the newspaper that the zonal director, Benedict Ubi, a couple of weeks ago ordered for an audit of the directorate’s exhibit room, following the internal heist that occurred in Lagos.
According to the sources, “Immediately after the order for the audit was given, he took an excuse to ease himself. Efforts were made to contact him but all his telephone lines were switched off.
This is only what the preliminary audit on foreign currency shows. There are chances that more could be uncovered after a thorough audit of the exhibit room.”
It was learnt that the commission had launched a manhunt to trace the fleeing officer’s whereabouts.

The Nigerian music industry is buzzing with controversy as Myke Records CEO, Obinna Michael Ikoku, has accused popular broadcaster and music mogul Kenny Ogungbe of Kennis Music of “stealing” one of Nigeria’s most versatile music talents, Kelly Hansome. This clash has reopened old wounds, raising questions about intellectual property, contracts, and the legacy of the iconic artist.
At the center of the storm is Kelly Hansome, born Kelechi Orji, a talented artist and music production engineer who rose to prominence in the mid-2000s. Between 2005 and 2006, Kelly was not only signed to Myke Records but also managed The Clap Music Studio on Allen Avenue, Ikeja, owned by Ikoku himself. His breakout hit ‘Maga Don Pay’ cemented his place as a household name, showcasing his lyrical depth and creative versatility.
The latest drama began when Kenny Ogungbe, co-founder of Kennis Music, made a bold claim on The Honest Bunch Podcast, suggesting ownership over Kelly Hansome’s music. This did not sit well with Ikoku, who took to Instagram to set the record straight.
“I didn’t fight them back then,” Ikoku revealed in his post. “Kelly was young and naive, and I let it slide because I wanted his career to flourish. But now, with all these lies, it’s time to tell the truth.”
Ikoku backed his words with evidence: a legally binding five-year contract, signed on October 16, 2005, between Myke Records and Kelly Hansome. The contract, Ikoku insists, was still active when Ogungbe allegedly lured Kelly to Kennis Music.
The stakes are high, with Myke Records asserting their legal rights over Kelly Hansome’s music catalog. Ikoku questioned Ogungbe’s narrative, particularly the claim of discovering Kelly’s music at NV Lounge & Nightclub in Owerri, a venue linked to Myke Records.
“Who invited Ogungbe to Owerri? Who owns the club? Who owns the song?” Ikoku fired back. “How dare he claim ownership of what belongs to us?”
Due to the role Myke Records played in shaping Kelly’s career, Ikoku’s focus appeared to shift away from Kelly himself and firmly toward Kennis Music, which he believes must be held accountable.
While Kelly has kept much of his thoughts private, he hinted at his desire for the truth to come to light in a recent social media post: “The truth will always come out. I’ve been silent for too long, but the world deserves to know.”
This conciliatory stance underscores Kelly’s effort to step back from the dispute and let both labels resolve their differences.
Ikoku and Myke Records have made their intentions clear: Kennis Music will face legal action. “We own the rights. We own the songs. And we will take every legal measure to defend our ownership,” the label declared.
The case hinges on the Deed of Agreement signed in 2005, which explicitly granted Myke Records exclusive rights to Kelly Hansome’s music for five years. Ikoku contends that Kelly’s works were unlawfully transferred to Kennis Music, making Ogungbe’s claims baseless.

We are not aware of VeryDarkMan’s missing N180 million — Plateau police
Plateau State Police Command has distanced itself from the probe into the alleged hacking of VeryDarkMan’s NGO, Martins Vincent Otse Initiative, where N180 million was reportedly stolen.
Speaking on the issue, DSP Alabo Alfred, the Police Public Relations Officer, clarified that the case was neither reported to them nor did it occur within their jurisdiction.
Earlier, VeryDarkMan revealed that hackers drained N180 million from his NGO’s account, adding that one suspect had been apprehended. He also announced plans to travel to Jos to recover the missing money.
According to the PPRO, “The matter is not reported to us. We are not the ones handling the matter because the crime was not committed within our jurisdiction. If he said he is coming to Jos, that does not mean that we are the ones handling the case.
The crime happened in Abuja. So, he is not coming to Jos to report an incident that did not happen within our jurisdiction. If he reported the case at the Force CID level, it is the Force PRO who can speak about it.
If he reported the case at the FCT Command level, it would be a different thing. Of course, the Force PPRO can talk about it as well. If he can get police officers from where he reported the case, they can all come together to Jos and do their investigation.
After that, they can report back to where they came from and continue from there. But we can’t talk on a matter that did not happen within our jurisdiction.”

Pizza delivery driver arrested in the U.S. after altercation with pregnant woman over a tip
A Florida pizza delivery driver has been arrested after allegedly st**bing a pregnant woman multiple times in front of her young daughter due to dissatisfaction with a tip.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Brianna Alvelo from Kissimmee faces charges of attempted m+rder, kidn+pping, home invasion, and aggravated a$$ault after the incident at a motel on Monday night. New reports indicate she is now also charged with m+rder.
The victim, her boyfriend, and her 5-year-old daughter were celebrating the boyfriend’s birthday in their motel room when they ordered from a Marco’s Pizza. Upon delivery of their $33.10 order, the victim attempted to pay with a $50 bill but was told by Alvelo that no change was available. After searching for smaller bills, the victim eventually paid and left a $2 tip, which Alvelo reportedly accepted with visible displeasure before leaving.
Later that night, Alvelo allegedly returned to the motel with an unidentified male accomplice, who was armed with a g+n. The pair forced their way into the room, with the man holding the victim and her daughter at g**point. He then forced the boyfriend into the bathroom, d£§troyed his phone, and stood guard while Alvelo searched the room.
Authorities say Alvelo, armed with a knife, then att**ked the victim, st**bing her 14 times before her accomplice intervened, telling her it was time to leave. The victim, who underwent surgery for a punctured lung, learned at the hospital that she was in the early stages of pregnancy.
The victim is now in stable condition, while Alvelo remains in the Osceola County jail without bond.

Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has said President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bills are tantamount to “calls for an+rchy”.

It is not about pride or ego, we must be able to do things that people will be assisted with because whatever it is, the situation was not like this before. If the situation was bad before I came, tell me! And I must change and that is why the presidency must listen to the cries about Tax Reform.

Hollywood Actor Hudson Meek Passes Away at 16 After Tragic Accident
Hudson Meek, a teenage Hollywood actor known for portraying a young version of Ansel Elgort in the 2017 movie Baby Driver, has tragically passed away at 16 after a car accident.
The incident happened on December 21 when Meek reportedly fell from a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, where he was a high school student.
According to WTVM 13 News, the accident occurred late Thursday evening, December 19, at around 10:45 p.m. Meek was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to severe blunt force injuries two days later.
His mother, Lani Wells Meek, announced his passing in a heartfelt Facebook post, stating, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years were far too short, but he touched so many lives and left a lasting impact on everyone he met.”
In addition to Baby Driver, Meek’s acting credits include roles in the TV series MacGyver (2016) and films such as The Santa Con, The School Duel, and 90 Minutes in Heaven. Outside of acting, he was an active member of his school football team and participated in church youth activities, including mission trips and retreats.

Four dr¥g lords jailed over 2,139kg coc@ine bust in Lagos
A Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced four dr¥g lords to prison after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized 2,139.55 kilograms of coc@ine from a residential estate in Ikorodu in 2022.
The convicted individuals are 71-year-old Soji Jubril Oke, 55-year-old Wasiu Akinade, 67-year-old Emmanuel Arinze Chukwu, and 44-year-old Jamaican, Kelvin Christopher Smith.
NDLEA operatives arrested the suspects at various locations across Lagos and charged them with six offences under case number FHC/L/607C/2022 in late 2022.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, Justice Yellim Bogoro delivered the sentencing in a statement released on Thursday, December 26.
The statement said, “The trial judge handed the Jamaican, Kelvin Christopher Smith, four years imprisonment with hard labour; Emmanuel Arinze Chukwu received a total of 16 years; Soji Jubril Oke was sentenced to five years with hard labour, and Wasiu Akinade got three years with hard labour.
The trial judge, however, gave the convicts varying options of fines, except for one who must serve the full jail term without an option of fine. [SWIPE]
