Here are some snapshots from the "Visual Cultures: Cambodian Cinematic Language" Lecture Series by Dr. LinDa Saphan, Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at the Department of Media and Communication of the Royal University of Phnom Penh. During each lecture, students are introduced to different areas of visual culture through lecture presentations. Moreover, the course emphasizes specific aspects of film style and narrative form through analysis of scenes from the films screened each week and from a range of outside examples. On April 3, 16 DMC freshman students participated in a workshop on Media Glossary for Migration and Gender Equality to learn about appropriate and respectful terminology for migrant workers, with translation between Khmer and English. The workshop was held at the Delegation of the European Union to the Kingdom of Cambodia. The discussion focused on disseminating the Khmer language version of the Media-friendly Glossary on Migration: Women Migrant Workers and Ending Violence against Women to a Cambodian audience. The workshop aimed to raise awareness and promote best practices for responsible and ethical reporting on labor migration and violence against women migrant workers.
