Cri-du-chat syndrome (cat cry syndrome)
Definition: rare syndrome caused by a chromosome 5 aberration [11][12]
Epidemiology: sex distribution: ♀ > ♂ (2:1)
Etiology: microdeletion of the short arm at chromosome 5 (46,XX,5p- or 46,XY, 5p‑)
Clinical features
Cat-like, high-pitched crying in affected infants
Congenital heart defects, e.g., VSD
Microcephaly
Intellectual disability (moderate to severe)
Single palmar crease
Dysmorphic facial features
Moon facies
Widely spaced eyes
Epicanthal folds
Broad nasal bridge
Downward-slanting palpebral fissures
Skeletal abnormalities

A 46 y/o woman with HIV infection presented with a painful rash on pretibial surface of the right leg. The patient reported having been scratched by a cat in the same area three weeks earlier.

An interesting case of missing heart in a male. X-Ray chest does not show heart silhouette. The heart is located inside abdomen from midline to left.
Patient's abdomen showed a pulsating mass. The name is 'Ectopia cordis interna'. Very rare but if no anomalies in heart, or normal systemic and venous connections, the patient remains well, though any abdominal surgery for gallbladder or uterus, in female, etc will need utmost vigilance...
