The collusive and fraudulent settlement of Trump’s suit against the IRS is one of the greatest frauds perpetrated on the American public. Blanche signed the release granting Trump, his two sons, and virtually all of the Trump businesses sweeping and unprecedented audit, tax, and other civil immunities through the date of the release including matters that “could be pending.” The benefit to Trump and his sons could be in the hundreds of millions of dollars, if not more. Blanche attempted to defend the release during his confirmation hearing by claiming it was standard boilerplate for IRS settlements. However, it clearly is not for two reasons. First, the release extends to matters that are beyond what was in dispute. Second, the matters in dispute all occurred prior to 2021. A standard release would be confined to the time frame of what was in dispute. But here, the release covers new matters occurring up to the date of the settlement in 2026—an additional five years of audit, tax, and other civil immunity.
