UNESCO IN NEWS 2023-24 :- ➢ Ramcharitmanas, Panchatantra and Sahṛdayāloka-Locana of India is among 20 items of the Asia Pacific region  which has been included in the 2024 cycle of the ‘UNESCO's Memory of the World Asia-Pacific Regional Register. ➢ Palestinian journalists covering Gaza awarded 2024 UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize. ➢ A multibillion-dollar dam project underway across the Mekong River in Laos has prompted concerns that it could result in Luang Prabang City losing its UNESCO World Heritage Site status. ➢ India has nominated the “Maratha Military Landscapes”, a network of forts that showcase the strategic military powers of Maratha rule, for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage list for 2024-25. ➢ 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee will take place from July 21 to 31, 2024 in New Delhi, India. ➢ Gujarat’s Garba Dance Enters UNESCO’s ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage’ List. ➢ Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has secured recognition as one of the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Airports’ and has been awarded the ‘World Special Prize for an Interior 2023’ by the UNESCO’s Prix Versailles. ➢ ‘Garba of Gujarat' has been inscribed in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity by UNESCO. ➢ Garba dance is the 15th intangible cultural heritage of India to be included in this list. ➢ Kozhikode in Kerala has been designated as the UNESCO 'City of Literature' and Gwalior as the 'City of Music' in the latest UNESCO list of Creative Cities Network. ➢ temples of the Hoysala Empire in Karnataka, India were officially added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites, marking India's 42nd addition to the prestigious heritage list. ➢ Three Hoysala-era temples in Karnataka [Chennakeshava (Belur), Hoysaleswara (Halebidu) and Keshava Temple (Somanathapura, Mysuru)] recently made it to UNESCO’s World Heritage List, under the collective entry of ‘Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysalas’. ➢ Santiniketan, located in West Bengal, India, has achieved the prestigious status of being recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ➢ Santiniketan as the 41st World Heritage Property in India. ▪️ United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) :- ➢ Formation : 16 November 1945. ➢ Headquarters : Paris, France. ➢ Director-General : Audrey Azoulay (France). ➢ Member countries : 193

ABOUT AYUSHMAN BHARAT -PRADHAN MANTRI JAN AROGYA YOJANA(AB-PMJAY) 🔹Launched On:- 23rd Sep, 2018 🔹Launched By:-PM Narendra Modi 🔹Launched From:- Ranchi Jharkhand 🔹Under:- The Ministry of Health and family Welfare(MoHFW) 🔹This is the "World's Largest government funded healthcare Program". 🔹The National Health Authority (NHA) is the nodal agency responsible for the nationwide roll-out and implementation of the AB-PMJAY scheme 🔹AB-PMJAY provides cashless and paperless access to services for the beneficiary at the point of service. 🔹It  provides a cover of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year, for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. 🔹PM-JAY is fully funded by the Government and cost of implementation is shared between the Central and State Governments. 🔹It Covers up to 3 days of pre-hospitalization and 15 days post- hospitalization expenses such as diagnostic and medicine. 🔶Recent Updates :- 🔹Till now, the PMJAY has covered over 341 million citizens who received free health insurance of Rs.5 lakh for hospitalisation. 🔹Genderwise breakup of Ayushman cardholders Total(mn) Male 172.51 Female 168.84 Others 0.47 🔹TOP 5 Cards created(mn):- Uttar Pradesh 50.6 Madhya Pradesh 39.8 Bihar 28.47 Maharashtra 27.36 Gujarat 25.21 🔹BOTTOM 5 Cards created:-  Goa 80,705 Sikkim 74,266 Andaman and Nicobar Islands 72,204 Lakshadweep 35,619 Dadra and Nagar Haveli; Daman and Diu 9,720 🔹The data from the National Health Authority dashboard shows that cumulatively the scheme has covered 65 million cases of hospitalisation, entailing Rs.81,979 since its inception. 🔹General medicine, infectious diseases, and general surgery are the three main therapy areas covered by the Ayushman Bharat scheme now, while haemodialysis is the top-most procedure the scheme covers. 🔶 Why has this scheme recently been in the news? 🔹- In his manifesto, PM Modi said Ayushman Bharat will cover all citizens above the age of 70 and the transgender community if the party returns to the power this year. 🔹Also sources said the Centre was working on increasing coverage under Ayushman Bharat to Rs.10 lakh
