They did it, with one action Mojang ignored over 14k people
In case you aren't aware, in the latest update, Mojang has removed the Pbd files on bedrock servers, essentially ruining modding. How many people voted against this change? Over 14k people. And Mojang ignored every. Single. One of them. I'm gonna put a video link that's like a mini dive on why this is is bull poo, but, Mojang is turning more and more into a hollow shell of themselves.

The implication of the skulk spreading everywhere is absolutely horrifying
Minecraft is very good at being a game that is fun for kids but scary for adults. The more you learn about the very sparse lore regarding souls and liliger experiments and drowned the world gets dark, but this takes the cake.
The skulk isn't terrifying because it infests the deepest depths of mountain caves, spawns wardens, and causes darkness (well it is but hear me out). The skulk is terrifying because *it's actively spreading.* The world is doomed. The reason deep dark biomes don't spawn any mobs is because the implication is the warden already killed them and their xp/soul was converted by skulk catalysts into more spreading skulk. Issue is unlike the stagnant nature of other biomes and structures like temples or shipwrecks, the skulk biome is active and still growing.
It's a horrifying circle of life where the warden kills mobs, the skulk catalysts turn it into more skulk blocks, spreading it further, finding more mobs, alerting/creating more wardens, and repeat. It's an invasive species and acts like a plague, constantly spreading with no conceivable way to stop it.
We are playing in not only a post-apocalyptic world (that's where the lore's going I think) but in one where the true apocalypse hasn't even hit yet, underneath our feet and slowly spreading up through the caves until it bursts onto the surface.
I'm not Mattpat, and I know mojang is kind of retroactively making lore to fit the original game, but if there were ancient builders that fled to the End, this is why. The zombie plague, the wither, rising sea levels, those are things you can adapt too, build higher build more. But the skulk spreading through death and converting every single block into more of itself? It is rot and ruin made manifest, you cannot fight death itself.
