Giving birth🤱🏻 is supposed to be a joyous event and it is, for many. But for 10% to 20% percent of new mothers, they may be trapped in a downward spiral after pregnancy or childbirth, due to postpartum depression (PPD)😔
In Singapore, PPD affects 1 out of every 12 to 16 such women, making up 6 to 8% of new mothers here. However, PPD is not widely understood in Singapore, many mothers are not able to understand - much less talk about - their experiences.
PPD is a serious problem that should be dealt with, but it is not a character flaw or a weakness. Most women experience PPD, but this does not mean they are weak or vulnerable. Sometimes it's simply a complication of giving birth, and prompt treatment can help mothers manage their symptoms.

This year, the International Day of Rural Women, puts a spotlight on “Rural Women Cultivating Good Food for All” 🍱
Rural women play essential roles in food systems – from production to distribution of food. Yet, unequal power relations between women and men👫🏼 in the household and society result in heightened experience of food insecurity.
In AIESEC, our goal aligns with UN’s Women in supporting rural women and girls around the world to fully and equally participate in decision-making at all levels.✨
Today, UN Women calls on everyone to build on this momentum and galvanize efforts to advance rural women’s voice 📢 and agency to ensure that they can continue to cultivate good food for all.

Happy International Day of the Girl Child! 👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿
What are little girls made up of? Sugar, spice and all things nice! Not just that but they are also made up of hope, strength, leadership, resilience and fearlessness too 💖
Today we’re dedicating this day to all the girls that have faced several challenges their whole lives. From being deprived of their basic needs to going through discrimination, here’s to putting an end to it if we all do our part. 🎀
Remember that if a girl child believes that she can, then she WILL 🙌🏻
💪🏻 Educate. Train. Empower. 💪🏻

AIESEC in SIM introduces “Hear our voices”, a series to recognise uncommon discussion regarding women’s issues. 👩🏻💼
The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed glaring gender inequity in our society. Women, particularly Black and Indigenous women, have been most affected by the social and economic ripples of the pandemic.
More women than men have lost jobs and many have the added emotional and physical toll of being caregivers🤱🏽 of both children and the elderly.
Thus, over the next few weeks, we hope to bring in eye opening issues surrounding women. Make sure to stay tuned as you will definitely learn something more. 😊
