| 3 |  Krishna was born at midnight in Mathura, on the Ashtami tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada, while Kansa ruled through fear. And from that prison cell came the child who would one day shape the course of the Mahabharata and give us the Bhagavad Gita.
Janmashtami is also deeply personal for so many of us. It is Bal Gopal stealing makhan, Krishna’s flute in Vrindavan, the joy of decorating the jhula at home, the vrat through the day, and the wait for midnight darshan.
It is a festival we have grown up with, year after year, carrying both devotion and memory.
As we welcome Shri Krishna once again on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami, may his wisdom, courage and compassion continue to guide us.
Wishing everyone a blessed Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
