“Zoya” was a real person!
I haven’t seen any posts on this, and found it very interesting, so I’m leaving it here.
There is a well-known event chain in 1962, where an American college student named Steve goes into the Russian anarchy to visit all the warlord states there. Early on, he meets a sniper named Zoya, who served as a Soviet soldier during WW2.
I assumed that Zoya was simply a fictional character- but it turns out she might not be.
Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya was a real Soviet partisan that fought and died in WW2. She was captured in 1941 after burning village houses that German soldiers were using as lodging. Faced with execution, she said to her captors:
"You hang me now, but I'm not alone. There are two hundred million of us. You can't hang us all. They will avenge me."
When she died, she was only 18 years old. (Which makes sense in TNO's story, since Zoya would be 39 in 1962.)
She became a martyr to the Soviet people, and was awarded Hero of the Soviet Union for her actions.
It seems that in the TNO timeline, Zoya escaped and was spared, though her country was not so lucky.

The Great Asian War as triggered by Long Yun is a bit too limited in scope IMO
If Long Yun triggers the Great Asian War and has all of the Sphere Declare on him then it would make sense imo for the Republic of India to opportunistically declare war on the Azad Hind government and for Vietnams Viet Minh Insurgency to dramatically increase their activities to the point of immediately overthrowing the Sphere backed government. If the US wins the Malayan emergency the Malaysians should be able to also try to declare war on Japan to reclaim North Borneo and Singapore.
