​​AZOV For the Russian state and its accompanying propaganda machine, the «Azov» regiment is at the same time the biggest nightmare, the enemy they really fear, and a scarecrow for the internal consumer of Skabeev's media slops. Putin’s fantasies about the denazification of Ukraine are based, not least, precisely on the fear of the «Azov» movement: the armed formation of volunteers, which has become one of the most effective and professional units in Ukraine with deep ideological foundation — a nightmare for the inhabitants of the Moscow swamps. «Azov» is not just a regiment. Today it is already a part of the modern Ukrainian myth. A community of armed and motivated free people, united by an internal hierarchy, with their own table of ranks and a code in which courage and honor are not the empty words. «Azov» is everything that is impossible in the Russian Federation. The Russian government and its loyal common men feel this difference on a subconscious level, interpreting (and do the right thing) it for themselves as a threat to their existence. That is why today the Russian invaders are trying to raze Mariupol to the ground. The city, liberated from Russian proxies by «Azov» in 2014, became one of the bastions of the regiment, one of the symbols of its military achievements. A Cossack's outpost Domakha is located on the territory of modern Mariupol since the 16th century. Here it is — the direct continuity of the Ukrainian freemen. The enemy displaces its hatred onto Mariupol today. To understand what the «Azov» phenomenon is, take an interest on how the Ukrainian General Staff managed a special unit of two thousand high-class military specialists. When hostilities turned into an opposition war, the Azovites were kept without explanation at the base, located on the third line of hostilities. And why? The answer is obvious. The Azovites did not accept the rules of the game set by the Kremlin in the smoldering Donbass for six years. The «Azov» fighters «violated the silence regime» in every possible way: they actively responded to shelling, carried out attacks, managed to liberate Ukrainian territories and move forward despite all the bureaucratic prohibitions, in other words, «Azov» fought in this war properly, and this did not suit even the Ukrainian nomenclature, which at that time had illusions about Western partners and the sanity of the Putin regime. Moreover, one of the most trained units of the Ukrainian army hadn't received a single unit of new precision-guided weapons provided by the US and the EU. Bayraktars, javelins, etc. are today provided to territorial defence battalions, that, in some cases, are guarding fences and construction sites, but for some reason its not provided to people who really need it. «Azov» has been defending Mariupol since the first day of the war. For 13 days, the fighters have been surrounded and completely isolated. They refused to leave the city and are fighting, despite the superior number of the enemy and complete violation of the rules of war. The 8-year preparation for this big battle allows the Azovites not only to keep the city, but also to actively destroy enemy equipment along with its hosts. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said yesterday that our main goal at the moment is the humanitarian corridor to Mariupol. This, of course, is correct. But why are we not talking about breaking through the Russian encirclement around Mariupol and transferring the weapons the Azovites request? We encourage everyone who has the appropriate opportunities and levers of influence on the Ukrainian authorities to raise this issue in «high offices».
