The most important aim of science should be to improve people's lives.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Throughout history, the field of science has been the cornerstone of many great achievements. However, there is a strongly held view that scientific research should be done so as to improve human lives. In my opinion, although the primary purpose of science has been to gather knowledge and better understanding of the world, scientific research can help ameliorate our lives at many different levels.
Admittedly, the main aim for scientists has been primarily about enlarging the scope of known information. Stretching from chemical lab tests to animal experiments, the findings always contributed different bits of evidence to the scientific data. To illustrate, a Russian scientist developed the table of chemical elements, which increased people’s understanding of chemical reactions.
However, increasingly, scientific research is being undertaken with the obvious goal of solving a problem or developing a technology. A great example of this can be illustrated by the electrification of our lives. Without this scientific breakthrough, civilization would not have been born and our daily lives would have been unlivable. This is perhaps one of the most crucial scientific breakthroughs in the history, which has been a symbolic of lives improved by science.
Furthermore, science has improved our lives in other dimensions by preventing global issues like hunger and health crisis. Various fields, crop sciences, soil sciences and genetics revolutionized the way we used to cultivate and harvest. One conspicuous example of this would be genetic modification of food plants, which makes it possible to feed the ever-rising world population. Hitherto, humankind was always plagued by a plethora of diseases, for which there are now scientifically proven remedies. As an example, the invention of penicillin continues to save millions of people’s lives.
In conclusion, I am convinced that science, as an ever-growing field, aims to explain and understand. However, the explanations and findings have been tremendously impactful on the improvement of humankind.

The graph details percentage changes in the rate of population living in cities belonging to four Asian countries. The data covers the period from 1970 and illustrates predictions up to 2040.
Overall, it is readily apparent that all countries witnessed a rise in the percentage of city residents in the past, and this is likely to continue in 2030 and 2040. What is distinct between the past and future dynamics, though, is that the figures were more closely comparable in the past, whereas the difference between them is expected to widen in the future.
In 1970, the proportion of those living in Thai and Indonesian cities stood at around 20 and 15%, respectively, whereas the figures for the Philippines and Malaysia started off the period at about the same rate (30%). By 1990, there had been an overall increase of approximately 10% in all figures. The next three decades saw a soaring in the Malaysian and Indonesian city population, with the percentages reaching 75% and 50%, respectively. Meanwhile, the percentage of people living in the Philippines and Thailand rose slightly to 45 and 30%.
Future estimates depict a more dramatic rise in the share of city dwellers, with Malaysia dominating at well over 80%. While the second-highest rate of city population is predicted to be 60% for Indonesia, the shares of Philippine and Thai city residents are expected to be in the neighborhood of 50 and 40%.

A heartfelt comment by Diyorakhon Ibrokhimova 7.0 Achiever student. One thing about Diyora is that she started from the ground with me, and studied till Graduation to achieve a 7.0.
I know for a fact if you spend well more than a year with a single teacher, he is the one who you stuck to and then you go out there and get the job done, it’s gotta feel special for you! This is how she is feeling right now!
Thanks for the dua, Diyora. I know you could have easily gotten an 8.0 with your potential. I guess others would also agree with me on this - those who knew her. But this is good enough for the moment👏

Repost from Englishizzy
Some students take a gap year after graduating from school to work and travel before they continue their studies. However, some people think that working prepares them more for future life than traveling.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Right after finishing school, teenagers usually face the dilemma of continuing their education or taking time off for traveling or working, which is known as a gap year. While some argue it is better to commence a degree, I believe that taking a gap year is more advantageous. In this essay, I will outline the ways in which a gap year benefits young adults personally, socially, and professionally.
Firstly, taking a gap year offers opportunities to explore inner strengths and discover new passions for young individuals.By trying out different job positions, they can find a dream job which aligns with their unique circumstances. This experience would be invaluable when they seek employment, as they are aware of their job preferences. For instance, participating in co-curricular activities such as volunteering, side projects and charity programs may be a trial for youngsters to decide their future disciplines.
Secondly, visiting a foreign country provides young adults with the opportunity to enhance social networking.By interacting with various individuals, youngsters learn to respect others’ opinion, be inspired by foreign peers, or find their role models.Additionally, they can form lifelong relationships with like-minded people, which is really crucial when they pursue a career. Moreover, when working in a team, they might develop interpersonal skills like avoiding quarrels and negotiation.
Finally, early exposure to an unfamiliar country leads to independence, which is a highly-demanding trait in a person’s entire life. When visiting another place, a teenager has to obtain some basic housekeeping skills like cleaning, cooking, and doing chores.Furthermore, they will advance professional skills such as planning a schedule, budgeting money, or managing conflicts while living abroad. That said, gap year is the unique chance for one to mature mentally and emotionally.
In conclusion, while starting a particular major might be feasible in some manners, the experiences that a gap year offers should not be underestimated.Since a gap year equips youngsters with chances to develop personally, socially, and professionally, they should never hesitate to pursue their inner passions in unfamiliar conditions.

Some businesses observe that new employees who just graduated from a college or university seem to lack the interpersonal skills needed for communication with their colleagues.
What could be the reason for this?
What solutions can help address this problem?
Along with the necessary qualifications for the job, potential candidates are required to have well-developed interpersonal skills to be in good terms with their future colleagues. However, these young prospects often reportedly lack this trait in their arsenal. As such, the focus of the following paragraphs will be to explain the reasons and provide solutions for this issue.
One way to explain why students entering the workplace do not possess good interpersonal skills is largely due to the subjects they have studied which focus primarily on technical and theoretical knowledge. By constantly testing the students through unrelenting courseworks, assignments and written exams, the education system fails to emphasize on soft skills, such as communication, team-working, turn-taking and others. When students do not have time away from their university assignments and spend day and night preparing for an exam solely, they will be unable to develop the skills needed for effective communication. Moreover, certain subjects, which provide vital education on improving person-to-person skills, like emotional intelligence and conflict resolution are almost never taught.
Having said that, the problem can be overcome with the reformatting of college and university curriculums. To achieve this, education authorities like the Ministry of Education can legislate laws to introduce new subjects on the development of interpersonal skills – conflict management and effective communication, for example. Furthermore, universities and colleges should adopt ways of encouraging more interaction among students in class through conducting team-building activities during seminars and workshops. This, as a result, would help promote group work and higher engagement, which increases their awareness of the people they work with and how to treat them and handle any conflict if arises any diplomatically.
To conclude, universities tend to over-focus on technical expertise and ignore the interpersonal element in class tasks, resulting in the underdevelopment of communication skill. The situation , however, can be improved by establishing more interactive study plans and making communication developing subjects compulsory.

Many think that religion should be taught in schools, while others think it should be avoided.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
People express contrasting opinions about whether religious education should be included into school curriculums. While some believe that this subject should be taught in schools, others argue against it. Hence, this essay will be aimed at exploring both arguments, and I will also provide my personal opinion on this complex matter. 51
On the one hand, there can be found some reasonable excuses for the conduction of religious education in schools. The primary one is the state-backed schools can easily provide the transparency and safety over what is taught in religion lessons as well as promote egalitarian viewpoints. This will help prevent any controversy or disputes coming into existence because children will no longer possess mixed beliefs. Moreover, if religious education were sanctioned by primary schools, young children would have the opportunity to learn rudimentary concepts of morality, like being able to differentiate right from wrong and respecting elderly, for example. After all, not all parents can serve as good role models or may not even have time to educate their offspring about morality, so having a RE lesson could be effective alternative. 130
On the other hand, there is a strong opposition from certain individuals, including myself, toward the induction of religion in mainstream schools. One way this could be more detrimental than beneficial is the confusion it would cause. This can be explained well by examining the differences between scientific and religious principles and knowledge. For example, while science proves how Earth was formed through Bing Bang theory, religion offers an unbelievably distinct insight, or that existence of humankind also is differently interpreted in science and religion. Another risk is immature learners can become fanatic of one particular religion and discriminate others, as they tend to be easily brainwashed. Consequently, their fanaticism could go beyond school territories and turn into more serious vendetta. 110
In conclusion, I believe that the potential negatives of teaching religious education to young children outgweight the benefits, and therefore , religious education should be avoided in mainstream schools. 27
