The following two fights are the main and co-main event fights for UFC 294, respectively. 1. Makhachev vs Volkanovski 2 - for the world lightweight title 2. Usman vs Chimaev - for the number one contender to fight Strickland. UFC odd makers are favoring the Dagestani and Chechen force to win. When it comes to me, I feel that underdogs are indeed at a disadvantage for the reason that they haven’t had a full camp to prepare for these fights. They are replacing the two Brazilians ,who were forced to pull out due to injury, on 11 days notice. The line graph shows how much money four countries allocated to books from 1995 to 2005. Overall, there was an increase in the amounts of money spent by each country over the whole period. Worth noting are the dominance of Germany over other nations and the largest rise shown by Austrian expenditure. There were France and Italy spending money on books as well. The difference between their expenditure was narrow, with each showing $55 million and $50 million spending rates in the initial year. However, this similarity only continued till 1997, after which the discrepancy widened noticeably to illustrate France’s superiority at $75 million over the Italian expenditure rate of around $60 million in 2005. The German spending on books accounted for $80 million at the beginning, followed by a fluctuation at around $90-95 million until the end of the period. Noteworthily, Germany concluded the 10-year span with an upward dynamic despite the variation. As regards the Austrian share proportion of money directed to books, it was the lowest among four countries standing at only $30 million in 1995. The next four years saw a sharp increase in this rate by $10 million before levelling off between 1999 and 2001. ❗️Writing Task 2 Many people fail to achieve a balance between work and others parts of life. What causes this? How to overcome this problem? Keeping a fine work-life balance has become a major obstacle for people. Their over-committed attitude to employment and consumeristic behaviors are factors contributing to this imbalance. In my view, people should consider reducing their working hours and find satisfaction with their current life conditions. Analyzing the causes of the inability to keep a balance between work and private life, today’s people show a higher tendency toward work, because it allows them to make a living, buy the things they want and fulfill their materialistic needs, such as buying a new car or a piece of furniture. Even for upbringing purposes, parents feel overwhelmed by the belief that they have to be working hard to earn as much as possible so as to provide their offspring with school stationaries, clothes, warmth and shelter. For example, recent statistics support that people aged between thirty and forty represent the lowest amount of home time at weekend, meaning that they are out at work even on their days-off. These mental urges to fulfill their own materialistic needs and those of their children make the modern-day parents indeed unable to keep work and private life in harmony. Moving on to solutions to the deteriorating work-life balance, the primary action that needs to be taken is shorten their work length. As supported by many studies and real-life tendencies, predominantly male parenting figures tend to over work neglecting their personal life whereby they could spend time at home with their kids, take them to places such as the zoo, park and theatre. This is problematic, and reducing the amount of time they work and separating their weekends completely for their private lives could turn the tide here. Another way to consider is to limit our wants, which keep our focus more on work rather than family and friends. As mentioned in earlier paragraphs, today’s people are very shopaholic and their materialistic need can only continue to grow to disappoint them further. So, a good solution here is to find consolidation in what they already have and make peace with the one they do not yet have. In conclusion, while the factors leading to a lack of balance between work and private life of today’s people are connected with their one-sided approach to life and consumeristic attitude, the measures are to reduce work time to achieve a two-sided lifestyle and limit their materialistic needs. Mixed views are expressed as to which approach is more beneficial for people, whether to work for the same organization until retirement age or seek different employments. While some say the first brings career growth and stable salary, others are mainly keen on decorating their life path and gaining different skills. Thus, this topic is definitely worth a scrutiny with a final judgement given at the end. On the one hand, the decision to work at various workplaces could give employees the chance to explore life to a deeper extent. To clarify, when people change workplace frequently, this will give them an opportunity to have more varied experiences, outside the job circle. This, in turn, helps them live a well-decorated life. Another reason why people might agree to work for a different corporation can be the escape method. In other words, if people are stuck in one job, they might feel they have stopped developing, so they might decide to call it quits and venture into a completely new path to gain new skills and increase their qualifications. Let’s now analyze why some people think staying in one workplace is advantageous for them. The primary reason for their motive seems to be increased salary and opportunity for further promotion within the company. Furthermore, the element of risking their reputable position and stable flow of income might provide the understanding of why they consider important to stay in one position during one’s working life. From the way I see it, it is highly controversial and dependable on situation and one’s life ambitions. If people want to have a life rich in experiences, new opportunities and relationships, then it is optimal to work for different companies. However, I am more convinced that consistent employment may provide better recipes for a less challenging lifestyle, which at the end of the day is the ultimate wish of any worker. For example, working for the same employer might guarantee job security and continuous growth in worker emolument. To conclude, this essay has discussed the reasons which is more useful for people, employment in one company or many different ones. ❗️Writing Task 2 Movies and tv shows are a good way to study history despite their lack of historical accuracy at times. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Studying history for people through books often ends up in boredom before they put aside their textbooks. Thus, it is suggested that history learners ought to watch movies and shows on TV about history. In my view, this point is valid for several reasons although there are certain drawbacks to this method. First and foremost, reading is deemed to be rather a boring way to learn anything, including history. Visuals, on the other hand, help bring history to life through interesting scenic episodes, which can draw the attention of viewers more successfully than pieces of written documents can. Also, because movies are shorter and they contain the whole information about a certain topic of historical interest in one film, viewer attention span is higher for films than books which take weeks, or even months to finish. This means that through watching a single film a person can obtain the overall picture of the past, whereas they might not even read their books until the end. However, it is true that certain elements might be taken out in films, so there is a risk of attaining unreliable information. Moreover, special effects used in movie production and cutting of redundant parts might lead to distortion of factual information too. Nevertheless, the experience of watching a movie or a show is able to trigger emotions of spectators. For example, murdering scenes, planning stages of conspiracy theories, vital negotiations and disputes, the feelings of agony and thrill can be displayed more skillfully by actors increasing the overall enjoyment of people learning that particular history. I believe that learning history this way helps people memorize and remember better than reading books. In conclusion, despite possible distortion of information and risk of exaggeration of historical contexts in movies, I strongly feel that watching movies is still a more efficient and engrossing approach to learn history in comparison to learning from paper books. ❗️Writing Task 2 Earlier technology developments brought more benefits and changed the lives of ordinary people more than recent developments ever will. To what extent do you agree or disagree? There is no denial that previous technological breakthroughs have made a turning point in our lives. In other words, they helped societies reach civilization, and familiarize themselves with the meaning of easy and comfort. Newer technologies will also continue to make lives better, but it is fair to say that the genesis of technological revolution will also have the most profound impact. To commence with, there are numerous kinds of technological inventions which took place at the start of 20th century. Namely, invention of automobiles, household durables such as fridge, air-conditioning and washing machine to name but a few enabled us to enjoy more comfortable, less challenging and time-saving lives. Airplane invention is another prime example, which made possible for people, who were confined to their locality, to travel around and explore the world. Moreover, advent of computers, mobile phones and later internet connection has brought about many positive developments, particularly in education and workplace. To our advantage, however, the field of technology has never ceased to produce, adding more value to our lives. Most recent phenomena include the creation of AI (artificial intelligence) and electrification of our homes and workplaces. Nowadays, it is possible for us to control home appliances through our cell phones, electronically connected to one another. In addition, electric vehicles also stand among the most recent tech advancements, replacing fuel-powered vehicles and helping reduce our carbon footprint. Having said all of this, these latest improvements are only complementary to the more fundamental earlier developments which had the most dramatic influence. In conclusion , despite the ever-growing feature of technology and its inevitable relevance to our lives, I am convinced that humanity benefitted the most from earlier technological developments like invention of transportation, computers and internet.
