When Jesus said, "I have not come to bring peace but a sword," he was NOT talking about bringing crusades, inquisitions, and the tyrannical Catholic Church. Matthew 10:34 was referencing Micah 7 (Jesus quoted Micah 7:6), and it's talking about destroying the old law covenant of the jews, which the Catholic Church still follows, and replacing it with the new faith covenant. This is what Martin Luther and the reformers discovered after reading the Bible for the first time after the Whore of Babylon Catholic Church suppressed it by burying it under centuries of heretical church traditions and keeping it hidden in the Latin language which no one knew but specially trained church clergy. The new heavens and earth are the new covenant based on faith in Jesus Christ, and the jews are no more. Their covenant was destroyed and so it will be for the Catholic Church who still follows their laws and offers self on the alter of guilt instead of believing in the saving power of Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Jesus didn't bring a sword to the "earth" to divide us, but to divide the old and new covenant.
