Building for the long haul requires distinguishing between mobilizing and organizing. Mobilizing uses existing structures to take action; organizing is the slower, steadier work of building relationships, membership, and networks to support successful mobilizations. Inexperienced activists often focus solely on frequent mobilizations, leading to burnout due to a lack of sustainable structure. The IWW’s 2017–2020 period illustrates this, as a rush of inexperienced members was difficult to integrate. Conversely, a slower, intentional strategy of building worker committees and scaling from small to large demands has proven more successful. 🚨 PSA: Don't Get Fooled by Germany's "Skilled Worker Shortage" Headlines 🚨 For anyone considering moving to Germany for work — please read before making plans. ❗ The Headline You See: > "Germany desperately needs skilled workers! Apply now!" > "Fachkräftemangel — your chance to work in Europe!" ❗ The Reality They Don't Say: Germany does have labor shortages — but only in specific sectors. The term "Fachkräftemangel" is often used as a blanket statement, creating false hope for people whose skills aren't actually in demand. ✅ Germany ACTUALLY Needs: 🏥 Nurses, elder care, medical assistants 🔧 Electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, construction trades 🚛 Truck/bus drivers, railway workers 🍳 Chefs, kitchen staff 🌱 Agricultural workers → These jobs are hard to fill due to physical demands, shift work, or lower wages relative to effort. ❌ Germany Does NOT Have a General Shortage Of: 💼 Generic office/admin roles 🏦 Banking, finance, insurance (without German certifications) 🖥️ Entry-level IT roles (without recognized degree + German C1) 📊 Marketing, HR, general business positions → These fields are saturated with local + EU candidates. Foreign qualifications often face lengthy recognition processes. --- 🛡️ Protect Yourself: 5 Quick Checks Before You Move 1️⃣ Search the official shortage list: → Google *"Bundesagentur für Arbeit Engpassanalyse 2025"* → Find your exact occupation code (KldB) 2️⃣ Verify your qualification: → Visit [anerkennung-in-deutschland.de](https://www.anerkennung-in-deutschland.de) → Start recognition before relocating (can take 6–18 months) 3️⃣ Assess your German level: → B2/C1 unlocks most jobs; A2 limits you severely → Many "international" roles still require German for contracts/safety 4️⃣ Research real salaries: → Use [kununu.com](https://www.kununu.com) or [glassdoor.de](https://www.glassdoor.de) → Compare offers to cost of living in your target city 5️⃣ Talk to people already in your field: → Reddit, expat forums, professional networks → Ask: "How long did your job search really take?" --- ⚠️ Red Flags to Watch For: ❌ "We sponsor visas for any degree!" (without asking about recognition) ❌ Vague job descriptions with high salary promises ❌ Employers who won't provide a written contract before you relocate ❌ Recruiters asking for payment to "process your application" ----- 💡 Bottom Line: > Germany needs certified, locally relevant, often hands-on skills — not just "any professional". > Don't let optimistic headlines convince you to risk savings, time, or stability without doing your homework. Knowledge is protection. Share this with someone who needs it.✊ 🔗 *Sources: Bundesagentur für Arbeit, KOFA, Make-It-In-Germany* 🔁 *Free to repost — no credit needed*

Every time the workers get too angry and start organizing wildcat strikes or occupying the factory floor, the union steps in to 'negotiate' a 2% wage increase and slightly better dental, making it look like a hard-fought class victory. ✊ But really, they're just defusing the revolution so the CEO gets to keep their golden parachute and the shareholders stay happy. 📈 The workers think the union is fighting the power, but really, the union is just managing the workers' anger to keep the corporate hierarchy perfectly intact. Management pretends to be terrified of the union, but secretly, they know the union is the only thing standing between them and a full-scale worker uprising. It’s not class warfare. It’s a beautiful, symbiotic relationship disguised as a rivalry. 🎩🤝👷

"Unions and employers are actually best friends. 🤝 But the union has to pretend to hate the bosses and go on strike in order to protect the bosses, so the workers don’t replace the union with a more radical, direct-action syndicate that actually wants to seize the means of production. "
