Reliance Industries: The Centre on Thursday filed a petition challenging a Delhi high court order in favour of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) regarding a gas dispute in the Krishna Godavari Basin. The court has asked RIL to file a response, a counsel aware of the matter said. The dispute began when ONGC wrote to the director general of hydrocarbons, alleging there was evidence of ‘lateral continuity’ of gas pools between the Reliance block and the adjacent blocks allocated to ONGC.
Cipla: The sale of a stake in Cipla Ltd. is in jeopardy as potential buyers have baulked at the 1.09 trillion rupee valuation members of the founding family are targeting the Indian firm in a deal, according to people familiar with the matter. Negotiations between the family members and prospective buyers, including companies in the industry and private equity firms, are no longer moving forward, as the founders are demanding about 1,350 rupees per share, the people said.
Tata Motors: Tata Motors plans to set up a separate sales network for its electric passenger vehicles in the current fiscal year as it looks to give a differentiated experience to the buyers opting for the environment-friendly models, according to a top company official. The Mumbai-based auto major, which on Thursday introduced all-new versions of its Nexon EV and Nexon (internal combustion engine), said it will start experimenting with new outlets in some of the cities where EV volumes have gone up.
L&T: A global company and an Indian firm have joined hands to bring the world-leading Articulated All-Terrain Vehicle (AATV), the 'BvS10', to the Indian defence market, according to an official statement issued on Thursday. BAE Systems and Larsen & Toubro have teamed up to bring the AATV to the country under the 'Make in India' programme, it said.
Zee Entertainment: Non-banking financial company Axis Finance Ltd has filed an appeal against the NCLT order to approve the merger of Zee Entertainment Enterprise with Culver Max Entertainment, formerly Sony Pictures Networks India. The lender has moved the NCLAT against the order.
Sun Pharma: LIC on Thursday said it has sold 2 per cent of its holding in Sun Pharma for ₹4,699 crore via open market sale. Following the share sale, there is a decrease of 2 per cent in holding during the period from July 22, 2022, to September 13, 2023. The shares were sold at an average price of ₹973.80 per share during the period through an open market sale in an ordinary course of transaction, it said.
Vedanta: Vedanta Resources on Thursday announced the appointment of Chris Griffith as its Chief Executive Officer for Base Metals and president of International Businesses. His appointment will be effective from October 2, 2023, the global metal and mining player said in a statement.
Shree Renuka/EID Parry/Balrampur Chini: The Department of Food and Public Distribution will seek an exemption for sugar from mandatory 20% jute bag packaging starting next month. Sugar millers and factory owners wrote to the textile secretary last month, saying though jute bags were good for packaging grains, they were not ideal for sugar.
JK Paper/West Coast Paper: Paper manufacturers' revenue may decline 8-10 per cent in the current fiscal despite gains in volume, as the average realisations are likely to soften on lower raw material prices and intense competition, rating agency Crisil said in a report. For FY24, the industry's total volume is expected to rise 5-7 per cent, similar to the last fiscal, and the operating margin will remain healthy at 18 to 19 per cent, ensuring a stable cash flow generation, it added.

Reliance Industries: Sovereign wealth fund Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has agreed to invest ₹8,278 crore ($1 billion) into the retail arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), marking a fresh round of investments into Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) after the country’s largest retailer raised ₹47,265 crore in 2021. QIA’s investment values RRVL at ₹8.28 trillion or $100 billion, twice its ₹4.21 trillion valuation in 2021.
GAIL India: State-owned Gail India plans a capital expenditure of ₹30,000 crore, mainly in pipelines, petrochemical projects and city gas distribution, over the next three years. The company's total capital expenditure for FY23 was ₹10,000 crore. We are targeting to incur a capex ₹30,000 crore in the next 3 years, mainly on pipelines, ongoing petrochemical projects, CGD projects, operational capex, equity contribution in group companies etc.," said Gail CMD Sandeep Kumar Gupta while addressing the shareholders at the AGM.
Coforge: Promoter Hulst BV intends to divest its 26.63% ownership in Coforge through a block deal, as reported by sources to CNBC Awaaz. The established floor price for this transaction stands at ₹4,550 per share, representing a 7.4% reduction compared to the closing price of ₹4,913 on the previous Wednesday. Hulst BV, a company registered in the Netherlands, is under the ownership and influence of funds associated with BPEA.

Procter & Gamble Health: In Q4FY23, P&G Health disclosed a net profit of ₹29.8 crore, marking a 28% decline in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year. This decrease was attributed to elevated material costs and a singular employee cost. Despite this, the company observed a 1.8% year-on-year growth in revenue from operations, reaching ₹301.2 crore in the quarter.
Bandhan Bank: Bandhan Bank on Wednesday announced it will enter the co-lending business, for which it will tie up with a couple of NBFCs. Announcing this at the bank's foundation day programme, its MD and CEO Chandra Shekhar Ghosh said the co-lending business will cover all verticals in which loans are given. "We have selected a couple of NBFCs, and will soon tie up with them," he said.
Muthoot Finance: Muthoot Fincorp Ltd (MFL), the flagship company of Muthoot Pappachan Group, on Wednesday said its new digital financial platform Muthoot Fincorp One will introduce insurance, personal loans, two-wheeler, and housing loans in six months. Tata Communications: Tata Communications announced the opening of its cloud-based, worldwide 5G Roaming Laboratory (Lab). Oriana Power: Oriana Power Ltd has won a contract worth ₹138 crore from Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) to set up a 20MW AC ground-mounted solar photovoltaic power plant at Dugdha washery area, Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The EPC phase of this project is slated for completion within 12 months.

Adani Enterprises: Kempas Trade and Investment Ltd., a promoter of Adani group, has said that it increased its stake in the group's flagship Adani Enterprises buying a 2.22% stake in the company from the open market between 7 August and 18 August. The stake purchase could be worth ₹6,348.12 crore according to the volume weighted average price of Adani Enterprises during that period.
Adani Power: Is targetting a total capacity of 21,110 MW by FY29. This includes proposed inorganic capacity at 1,100 MW, brownfield capacity of 3,200 MW, core existing capacity of 15,210 MW and committed brownfield capacity of 1,600 MW. It sees the net senior debt at ₹26,690 crore in FY24 vs ₹24,350 crore in FY23.
One97 Communications: The parent of fintech giant Paytm plans to invest in Al to build Artificial General Intelligence software stack, founder and chief executive Vijay Shekhar Sharma said in its annual report. He added that India can expect 500 million payment consumers and 100 million merchants "not very far in future".
Tata Power: Subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 9MWp on-campus solar plant with Tata Motors' Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand. This unit will be the largest on-campus solar facility in Uttarakhand. The project will be commissioned within six months from the PPA execution date.
Poonawalla Housing Finance: Care Ratings has downgraded the rating of Poonawalla Housing Finance by three notches, citing divestment by the promoter group. Care has downgraded ratings on long-term bank facilities, non-convertible debentures of Poonawalla Housing Finance from Care AAA to Care AA-.
Welspun Enterprises: The infrastructure development arm of Welspun World has completed the acquisition of 50.10% stake in EPC firm Michigan Engineers (MEPL), from existing shareholders for ₹137.07 crore. With this, MEPL is now a subsidiary of Welspun Enterprises and and will help expand the company's expansion in water and tunnelling solutions segment in India.
Wockhardt: Shareholders of Wockhardt have rejected a proposal to raise ₹1,600 crore from a promoter entity, according to a regulatory filing. The board of the pharma company had sought shareholder approval for a related party transaction with Khorakiwala Holdings and Investments Pvt Ltd (KHIPL) to raise up to ₹1,600 crore for a period of five years. KHIPL is a Reserve Bank of India-registered NBFC.
Union Bank of India: The lender on Monday said it will raise up to ₹5,000 crore through qualified institutional placement. A Committee of Directors on Raising Capital Funds has, at its meeting held on Monday approved the raising of funds for an amount not exceeding ₹5,000 crore through the issue of equity shares through Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP), Union Bank said in a regulatory filing.
ABB India: Has bagged an order from Reliance Life Sciences to automate control solutions for their new biosimilars and plasma proteins manufacturing facilities in its 160-acre plant at Nashik, Maharashtra.
Jet Airways: The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on Monday reserved its order in a plea by Jalan-Kalrock Consortium seeking more time to make payments to the lenders of the bankrupt Jet Airways. The consortium had emerged as the winning bidder for the airline, which stopped flying in April 2019 and later underwent an insolvency resolution process.
Coffee Day Enterprises: The National Financial Reporting Authority has imposed fines worth ₹1.10 crore on three entities, including two individual auditors, in connection with lapses in auditing of Tanglin Developments Ltd (TDL), a subsidiary of Coffee Day Enterprises Ltd. Besides, auditing firm Sundaresha & Associates, and two auditors--C Ramesh and Chaitanya G Deshpande--have been barred from taking up auditing work for varying periods.

IDBI Bank: The proposed sale of the government’s stake in IDBI Bank is unlikely to happen this fiscal, posing a challenge to the Centre’s ability to meet the ₹51,000 crore disinvestment target for the year. The government expected more than ₹15,000 crore from the IDBI Bank stake sale, the financial due diligence for which began in July.
Jio Financial Services: The demerged subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Jio Financial Services (JFSL), will list on Indian stock exchanges on Monday, 21 August. After the 20 July special pre-open call auction session, Jio Financial Services' share price was fixed at ₹261.85 apiece on the National Stock Exchange.
Axis Bank: The Competition Commission of India has imposed a penalty of ₹40 lakh on Axis Bank for failing to notify the regulator about its acquisition of a stake in CSC e-Governance. The watchdog in an order said that the transaction under consideration comprised acquisition of a 9.91% stake in CSC e-Governance by Axis Bank and was completed in November 2020.
Adani Ports: GQG Partners purchased 2.2 million shares of Adani Ports on Thursday, raising its stake in the company to 5.03%, the investment firm said in a disclosure on Saturday. It held a 4.93% stake in Adani Ports And Special Economic Zone Ltd. The development came days after Deloitte resigned as the company's auditor. Last week, the US-based investment firm had also picked up an 8.1% stake in Adani Power.
Titan: Watch and jewellery retailer Titan Company Ltd. has increased its shareholding in CaratLane Trading Private Ltd. to 98.28% from 71.09%, paying ₹4,621 crore for the additional stake buy, the company said in a filing to the exchanges. Titan had first acquired a 62% stake in CaratLane in 2016 for ₹357.24 crore making it a subsidiary of the company, and had subsequently raised its stake in the omni-channel jewellery retailer.
Adani Energy: Adani Group has clarified that Abu Dhabi's TAQA was not mulling a multibillion dollar investment, as rumoured, in group company Adani Energy Solutions, formerly Adani Transmission. The company insisted that it was not engaged in talks with the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC at this time. Earlier reports had indicated that TAQA was was evaluating an investment of up to $2.5 billion in Adani's transmission and distribution business.
Ashok Leyland: Auto manufacturer Ashok Leyland will issue a corporate guarantee cover of ₹870 crore to cover the lenders/banking facilities to its two UK-based subsidiaries - Optare Plc. UK and Switch Mobility Limited, UK. Ashok Leyland has said that promoters, promoter group, or group companies have no interest in this transaction which is conducted only for the purpose of covering the lenders/banking facilities.
M&M: Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has announced that it will examine select vehicles of its XUV range and will rectify the cars if required. The company has said it will inspect XUV700 and XUV400 manufactured in a specific timeline and will make the necessary changes as required.
Murugappa Group: Three years after Valli Arunachalam, a New York-based nuclear scientist and daughter of former Murugappa Group chairman M.V. Murugappan, levelled gender discrimination allegations against the boards of the group’s firms, the estranged family members reached an out-of-court settlement, the terms of which remained undisclosed.
KEC International: Leading infrastructure major KEC International, an RPG Group company, on Friday said it has received new orders worth ₹1,007 crore across its various businesses. Its civil business vertical secured an order for design, engineering, procurement and construction of a multi-specialty hospital in eastern India, the company said in a statement.
