š¢ļøRussia becomes India's top crude oil supplier:
⢠Russia has become India's top oil supplier in October, surpassing traditional sellers Saudi Arabia and Iraq, according to data from energy cargo tracker Vortexa.
⢠Russia, which made up for just 0.2% of all oil imported by India in the year to March 31, 2022, supplied 9,35,556 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil to India in October the highest ever.
⢠It now makes up for 22% of India's total crude imports, ahead of Iraq's 20.5% and Saudi Arabia's 16%.

š New honeybee species, endemic to Western Ghats, found:
⢠A new species of endemic honeybee has been discovered in the Western Ghats.
⢠The new species has been named Apis karinjodian and given the common name Indian black honeybee.
⢠The distribution of Apis karinjodian ranges from the central Western Ghats and Nilgiris to the southern Western Ghats, covering the States of Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and parts of Tamil Nadu.
⢠The species has been classified as "Near Threatened (NT)" in the State based on the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria.
⢠The ability of the Indian black honeybee to produce higher quantities of honey, which is thicker in consistency, opens up new avenues for increasing honey production.
⢠The new find has increased the species of honeybees in the world to 11.

SC upholds constitutional validity of 10% EWS quota:
⢠A 5 judge bench of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India UU Lalit, said that reservation on economic basis does not violate the essential features of the Constitution of India.
⢠It pronounced the judgment: "EWS reservation does not violate the equality code or violate essential feature of constitution and breach of 50% does not violate basic structure as the ceiling limit is here only for 16(4) and (5)."
⢠The 103rd Amendment Act, 2019 inserted Articles 15(6) and 16(6) in the Constitution to provide up to 10 % reservation to EWS other than backward classes, SCs, and STs in higher educational institutions and initial recruitment in government jobs.
⢠The EWS reservation was granted based on the recommendations of a commission headed by Major General (retd) S R Sinho.
⢠The commission, which was constituted by the UPA government in March 2005, submitted its report in July 2010.

⢠The Government of India has given its approval for the establishment of Indiaās first-ever Aqua Park in Arunachal Pradesh at Tarin (Ziro) in the lower Subansiri District.
⢠Arunachal Pradesh is going to get India's first Aqua Park and North East's first fish museum.
⢠The ambitious project is sanctioned under the CSS Component of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.

India's 53rd Tiger reserve:
⢠Uttar Pradesh gets its fourth Tiger Reserve and 53rd Tiger reserve in India.
⢠The tiger reserve is spread across over 529.36 sq km (core area 230.32 sq km & buffer area 299.05 sq km).
⢠The Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved the notification of the tiger reserve under Section 38 (v) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1972.
⢠The other three Tiger Reserves in Uttar Pradesh are Dudhwa Tiger reserve, Pilibhit Tiger reserve, Amangarh Tiger reserve.

š« C295 aircraft manufacturing plant at Vadodara in Gujarat:
⢠Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 30 laid the foundation stone of a C295 aircraft manufacturing plant in Vadodara, Gujarat, of the Tata-Airbus consortium that will manufacture the transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
⢠It is the first project of its kind in which a military aircraft will be manufactured in India by a private company, PTI reported.
⢠It is also the first time that the C295 aircraft will be manufactured outside of Europe.
⢠The C295MW is a transport aircraft with 5 to 10-tonne capacity and a maximum speed of 480 kmph.
⢠It has a rear ramp door for quick reaction and para-dropping of troops and cargo.
⢠Short take-off and landing from semi-prepared surfaces are some other features.

⢠The award is given to the safest, cleanest, and environment-friendly beaches of the world.
⢠The certification is an eco-label awarded to beaches and marinas around the world by the Denmark-based non-profit Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
⢠FEE is a non-profit organisation promoting sustainable development through environmental education. It is based at Copenhagen, Denmark.
⢠There are 33 criteria by which the applicants must qualify to be labelled a Blue beach.
⢠Now, India has 12 Blue Flag beaches.
