I wish there was a name for this specific gaze in photography (I'm a photography major, there isn't, it's always related to the effect — like "optical illusion" — that's reductive and often not really describing what's going on in the picture. It's about a transfer of meaning, the capturing of conversations between unrelated elements created by the gaze itself. Photography is magic)
