It seems role play, drama, videos, pictures explain lessons better than the teacher struggling using verbal explanations - The pupils understand lessons better when the teacher uses these teaching methods and resources. Using verbal explanations will make you the teacher frustrated because no matter the explanations the pupils will find it hard to understand the lessons. Using YouTube videos helps a lot or even dramatization or practical experiments or realia

The single spine structure will have to be reviewed - because teachers are very disadvantaged when it comes to the single spine. If you hear about other workers salary in other government services whose qualifications is only high school certificate compared to teachers who have diploma, degree, masters but their salary is less than those people - You wonder if it's volunteer service or youth service that teachers are doing. The teacher unions should agitate for review of the single spine because even long service too by teachers doesn't add up anything much for teachers. Some teachers are working for close to12 years but their salary is not even up to 3000 meanwhile they have degree qualifications. Single spine needs to be reviewed.

The NTC point building thing by participating in workshops and online courses. That thing is just some petty way of assessing teachers. The real job is on the ground. They should come and observe what we are doing in the classroom and give points. What if a teacher is not performing his duty in the classroom but he is attending workshops or passing the online course. Does that make him professional and responsible.

Teachers only have 2 allowances, Retention Premium and Professional Development Allowance, No clothing allowance or rent allowance. It's high time the Retention Premium is renegotiated from 15% to 50% and PDA gets 100% increment, These allowances deserve upward adjustment. Inflation has devalue the salary and these allowances has dropped in value hence needs adjustment. The teacher union leaders should voice out these grievances on behalf of teachers.

Is there the need to write lesson notes while the teachers laptop is there to serve that purpose. or the teachers laptop is for fashion. Because you can have the lesson resources on the laptop and there will be no need copying lesson notes on paper again or even printing it. Let's push the agenda to use the teachers laptop as the lesson notes resource pack otherwise the laptop is just a waste of resources in acquiring them for teachers.

Some teachers are underemployed in GES. They are good in specific subject areas than others. Instead of GES putting them in higher levels or levels that match their strengths they are put at levels hat undermine their strengths and weaknesses and vice versa hence making the workforce in imbalance GES have a policy of you are posted to where your services are needed instead of GES doing a job personality tests to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses of the teachers and know which level to place them. GES can also use the degree qualifications of teachers to place them based on the subject area the teacher specialized in. Some teachers are good in in ICT but they are made to teach Ghanaian Language. Some are good in Maths but are made to teach RME and so on. And these leads to underemployment. These also leads to pupils not receiving the best of tuition since they are sometimes taught by teachers that have less capabilities to deliver. GES is not tapping into the strengths of teachers, GES place teachers anyhow without evaluating their capabilities which they must begin to look at that. NTC should not dare introduce any new scam policy to deduct any money from the Teachers Professional Allowance.
