Crypto Personalities: Gerald Cotten
The story of Gerald Cotten resembles a thriller worthy of a film adaptation (and it is—Netflix made a documentary about the Canadian “cryptocurrency king”).
According to the official version, Cotten died at the age of 30 from complications of Crohn’s disease, with users of his cryptocurrency exchange QuadrigaCX losing access to their assets totaling $190 million because Cotten was the only person who knew the passwords to the cold vaults.
Many rumors and conspiracy theories have popped up in the community, from suggestions that Cotten actually faked his death to take users’ cryptocurrency to versions that he was murdered by his own wife. None of these hypotheses, however, has received reliable evidence.
Speaking of which, the Ontario Securities Commission revealed that QuadrigaCX was, in fact, a Ponzi scheme.

Satoshi Nakamoto did not call Bitcoin a cryptocurrency.
As a follow-up to yesterday’s post: If you read the emails carefully, you’ll find that it was NOT Satoshi who coined the term “cryptocurrency.” He just saw it somewhere on a forum.
“Someone came up with the word ‘cryptocurrency’ .... maybe it’s a word we
should use when describing Bitcoin, do you like it?” he wrote.
And, by the way, he foresaw problems with growing energy consumption:
“If Bitcoin does consume a lot of energy, I think it will still be less voracious than the traditional banking system it will replace.”
And in this, he was unequivocally right :)

🗓 "SEC Puts Ethereum ETF Decision on Hold: Awaiting BlackRock's Milestone Moment"
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) 🏦 has postponed its decision 🚫 on a proposed Ethereum ETF by BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager 🌐. This application 📄 was initially submitted back in November. The SEC states it requires additional time ⏳ to thoroughly review the application for compliance with the Securities Exchange Act 📊, but a specific date for the decision 🗓 has yet to be announced.
Experts are hypothesizing 🤔 that a decision could potentially be made by May 23, coinciding with a similar submission from VanEck 🔄.
Amidst the legal ambiguities 🧐, the Ethereum price 💹 has soared to a yearly high, fueled by anticipation of the ETF 🚀.

Crypto speak: Gem
In crypto, a “gem” is a little-known token with a low market capitalization and great potential for price growth.
However, finding a gem is difficult. Not everything that has a small market capitalization is a profitable investment. More often than not, the market cap is small and the token is cheap simply because no one wants it!
But a real crypto gem can shoot up and grow in value by 10x or more.
Everyone wants to find a gem in the ocean of crypto, but few of them succeed)

Now that's what I call a real holder:
An ancient bitcoin whale who held 1,000 BTC for 14 years sold them for $68,000,000.
The guy bought the bitcoin back in 2010, when it cost only $0.28. In early March, the price of BTC peaked at $68,000, and our hero transferred the entire bitcoin to the Coinbase platform, receiving a generous reward for his patience.
