still no rejections on $GBPJPY, lets wait for london open. if LO GJ manages to reject and close below 182.333, ready to take sell
In a recent Monetary Policy Meeting, the Bank of Japan (BoJ) took several significant decisions that could potentially influence the value of the Yen. Here's a breakdown:
Yield Curve Control: The BoJ emphasized increasing flexibility in controlling the yield curve. Specifically, they set a target for the 10-year Japan Government Bonds (JGB) yield at around zero percent. The bank is poised to purchase JGBs to maintain this yield target.
Negative Short-Term Interest Rate: The BoJ has decided to apply a negative interest rate of -0.1% to the Policy-Rate Balances held by financial institutions.
Asset Purchases: The bank is increasing its asset purchases. They will buy exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and Japan real estate investment trusts (J-REITs). The BoJ also intends to maintain corporate paper (CP) and corporate bond holdings at about 2 trillion yen and 3 trillion yen, respectively.
Inflation Outlook: There's a noted increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) projection. The bank's assessment suggests a gradual increase in the CPI, driven by various factors including rising import costs. The BoJ's ultimate goal is to maintain a price stability target of 2%.
Quantitative and Qualitative Monetary Easing (QQE) with Yield Curve Control: This strategy is central to the BoJ's approach. The bank will persist with QQE, combined with yield curve control, to ensure economic stability. Their commitment is to expand the monetary base until the observed year-on-year rate of CPI increase exceeds 2% consistently.
Implication for the Yen:
These policy measures, especially the combination of QQE with yield curve control and the maintenance of a negative short-term interest rate, indicate the BoJ's aggressive stance to counter economic uncertainties and achieve its inflation target. Typically, such an accommodative monetary policy can exert downward pressure on a currency. Hence, these measures might lead to a weakening of the Yen, making Japanese exports more competitive but increasing the cost of imports.
However, the actual impact on the Yen will also depend on other global economic factors and market perceptions. It's essential for traders to monitor global economic conditions alongside Japan's domestic economic health.
