| 11 | One thing I’ve realized is that to become better at trading, you need a strong reason why you’re doing it.
Most people say their reason is to make money, buy a nice car, become rich, or live a better life. But the truth is, that’s usually not strong enough. Almost everyone wants those things, yet very few are willing to put in the work when it comes to learning and improving.
Think about it this way: if someone told you, “If you dedicate yourself to learning trading, I’ll give you $1,000,” most people would suddenly become disciplined and push themselves much harder. Why? Because the reason became immediate and powerful.
The problem isn’t that people don’t want success—it’s that their motivation isn’t strong enough to keep them going through the difficult stages of trading.
Making money alone is not enough. You need a reason that genuinely moves you. Maybe it’s wanting to provide for your family, achieve financial freedom, prove something to yourself, escape a situation you never want to return to, or build the life you’ve always dreamed of.
A strong why creates discipline when motivation disappears. And in trading, discipline is what separates those who quit from those who eventually succeed. | 710 |
