The NUS Buddhist Society will be having a booth at the upcoming NUS Student Life Fair! 🍃 Head down to Utown Sports Hall 2 Booth 19 to find out more about what to expect as a member in the society, our upcoming schedule, and also get to talk to some of the EXCO members! In Week 13, the National University of Singapore Buddhist Society is featuring Sister Pair Shen to guide us through a meditation and share with us meditative practises from Chan Buddhism. Sister Pair Shen started learning Buddhism and took refuge in the Triple Gems in 1996. She started learning Chan meditation in 1997 under guidance of Master Chi Chern, a Dharma heir of late Master Sheng Yen. She served as an MC Member in the NUSBS from 1997-1999 as Dharma Activity Coordinator and Dharma Circle Facilitator. After graduation, she organised a few meditation camps under the Friends of NUSBS (Alumni). She is also involved in the organisation of THIS Buddhist Film Festival since 2009. Appointed as a meditation facilitator by Master Chi Chern, she became active in organizing meditation camps/workshops conducted by Venerable Ji Chi in Singapore. Currently, Sister Pair Shen is the Vice President of Wisdom Light Meditation Society, founded in 2019, that mainly promotes Chan meditation. The venue will be at S16-04-37. In Week 10, the National University of Singapore Buddhist Society is grateful to have Brother Norman New as the featured guest. Previously a Lecturer and Resident Fellow at Ridge View Residential College at NUS, Norman started on his path of exploration in Buddhism almost 25 years ago. A certified mindfulness teacher, he has learned from many distinguished Buddhist masters and teachers from the different traditions over the years. He currently considers Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, a renowned meditation master, as his main teacher. Brother Norman will share with participants his experience and perspective on marriage as a Buddhist, highlighting the importance of mutual respect and understanding.
