We could never answer that properly. So we built the answer.
dataset.et/resources now lists 28 open datasets and models for Amharic, Oromo, Tigrinya, Sidama and Wolaytta. Speech, text, translation. Published by other people, not us.
We have not checked their quality. This is just so you can find them.
One thing we did check: the licence on every single one. Five of the 28 declare no licence at all, which means you have no permission to use them until you ask the author. Better to know that before you spend a week on it.
