BBC journalists previously released a video about Boqijon Akramov, a soldier captured by German forces during the Second World War and held on the island of Jersey. He eventually escaped from what was described as a βhell island.β The BBC initially traced his relatives to Namangan.
Subsequent findings revealed that the Uzbek soldier, who had been sheltered and saved by the Le Breton family, was originally from the city of Bukhara rather than Namangan.
