| 3 | #Opinion | "On August 31, 2026, the Court of Arbitration in The Hague held that the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) remained fully in force despite New Delhi’s decision to hold it in abeyance. It also issued a limited interim order on Ratle. The order does not halt the project"
"It restricts concreting above specified levels in parts of the dam wall and power intake until 90 days after the Neutral Expert’s final decision and requires reports on the construction schedule. The Court declined two other measures sought by Pakistan. India did not take part in the proceedings. The ministry of external affairs rejected the Court’s award and interim order, saying the Court had neither legal existence nor jurisdiction to rule on India’s position"

| 5 | There are innings that announce themselves, and then there are innings that quietly alter the conversation around a player. Ishan Kishan’s 270—second highest score in a Duleep Trophy final—for East Zone against South Zone at Chepauk on Monday belonged to the latter category.
On a hot, humid Chennai afternoon, with the pitch neither offering extravagant movement nor easy pace on Day 2 of the five-day match, Kishan did something that has increasingly become unfashionable in the age of instant cricket—he stayed, and then stayed some more. Till he had carved out an innings to remember, with partner Kumar Kushagra helping himself to a hundred as well.

| 6 | #Opinion | "India’s decision to open the conventional missile sector to private industry marks an important inflection point in the evolution of the country’s defence-industrial strategy. Defence minister Rajnath Singh recently approved the transfer of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)-developed technologies covering conventional missile systems to eligible Indian defence companies, both public and private, for domestic production"
"The significance of the decision extends well beyond technology transfer. It represents an attempt to move India’s missile ecosystem from a predominantly State-led model of development and nominated production towards a more competitive industrial structure in which multiple companies can develop manufacturing capacity, integrate complete weapon systems and compete for orders"

| 9 | #Opinion | "The Indian men’s hockey team has won successive bronze medals at the last two Olympics — and that’s definitely a matter of pride. But we failed to replicate that performance at the recently concluded World Cup. What matters now is that each player understands the value of these big tournaments, which come only once every four years. At the World Cup, we knew we had to beat Argentina by a margin of two goals to reach the semis. Instead, we conceded in just 40 seconds. We’ll have to work on these things"

| 12 | “Arpit had big dreams and was working hard to make them come true. He wanted to study in a big city and we sent him to Delhi. He was his mother’s favourite,” his father said.
In a matter of minutes, the hopes and dreams of five students came crashing down after a five-storey paying guest accommodation for boys collapsed in south-west Delhi’s Satya Niketan on Sunday. One labourer, as well as one man who still has to be identified, were also killed in the incident. At least two people are currently critical at AIIMS.
The incident, which took place near the heart of Delhi University’s south campus, has sent shockwaves in the city, reiterating the fragility of the Capital’s infrastructure, the lack of proper regulatory norms, and laxity in the enforcing the ones that exist.
