Shaykh Rabee’s Advice On Handling Differences Regarding Individuals I advise the Salafi youth, wherever they may be, not to become divided over so-and-so and so-and-so, and not to show partisanship toward this person or that person. Rather, in issues like these they must be deliberate / consider carefully, verify matters, and search for the truth. So if the truth becomes clear to them, on whichever side, then they must support the truth. And it is not permissible for them to rush into joining this side or that. Rather, the Muslim is obligated to take the correct stance that is pleasing to Allah, Blessed and Exalted, by knowing the truth and standing by it, even if it comes from the most hostile of enemies, and by opposing falsehood, even if it comes from the most truthful of friends. So my advice to the youth regarding the issue of al-Maghrawi and others is that they should not rush to show partisanship for this one or that one. Rather, they should follow the correct Islamic path that is pleasing to Allah, Blessed and Exalted: Seeking the truth and being deliberate until one reaches the clear, pure reality. After that, he says to the one who erred: “You have made a mistake, and you must return to the truth.” And his response should be: “May Allah reward you with good; you were indeed correct.” And it is not from the Salafi manhaj at all for someone to hasten to support those who are mistaken, or other than them, except after the truth has become clear to him. This is my advice to the Salafi youth: that they take this path. And this was addressed by Shaykh al-Islam, who likened the one who hastens to show partisanship for this one or that one; he likened him to the criminal Tatars who show partisanship for falsehood. So let them beware of falling into this disgrace.
