Manchester City have reached an agreement in principle with Everton for the signing of forward Iliman Ndiaye. A deal consisting of a package worth £65million is in the process of being finalised for the 26-year-old, and he is expected to undergo a medical on Tuesday morning. [David Ornstein]

Sunderland have sent Manchester City an offer to sign Jack Grealish on a loan deal. The north-east club’s proposal would see City cover part of his salary and the possibility to make the move permanent next summer when his City contract expires Sunderland’s move for Grealish is alongside the club’s pursuit of Marseille winger Igor Paixao.

Crystal Palace are closing in on a deal to sign defender Joel Ordonez from Club Brugge. Palace’s offer for the 22-year-old, a loan with a conditional obligation to buy for a fee in the region of €30million (£25m), hijacks Premier League rivals Aston Villa ’s attempts to sign the centre-back.

Crystal Palace have rebuffed an initial approach from Liverpool for Ismaila Sarr. Liverpool discussed a move for Sarr as their search for a right-sided winger continues and the Palace attacker was identified as a player of interest until it became clear his current club were not willing to sell. Exploratory talks for Sarr were not followed by a bid and sources have told The Athletic that only an astronomical bid would change Palace’s stance and, with other targets still in mind, Liverpool are unlikely to budge.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has been offered by his representatives to Chelsea and the Stamford Bridge club are considering the possibility of signing him. The 33-year-old’s future at Villa Park is uncertain after a move to Juventus did not proceed earlier this month, despite the two clubs holding talks over a proposed move.

Ipswich Town are close to an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for Exequiel Palacios. The Premier League side have made an improved offer of €22.5m plus €5m for the 27-year-old midfielder to join on a proposed four-year deal. If the transfer is completed the Argentina international would become the first-ever World Cup winner to represent the club.

Aston Villa have made an approach to Bayer Leverkusen for striker Christian Kofane. Villa are long-standing admirers of the 20-year-old, with interest pre-dating his transfer to Leverkusen in 2025. Leverkusen do not wish to sell Kofane and do not intend to do so after club-to-club contact was made by Villa.
