Open Essay Writing Challenge
A practice initiative designed to help aspirants improve their ability to think, structure, connect and write an essay effectively under exam-like conditions.
In every challenge, one essay topic will be given live, and participants will be required to write a complete essay within the stipulated time. The exercise is meant to move beyond passive learning and make students practise the most important skill in essay preparation: actually writing an essay from scratch within a limited time.
Once the writing time is over, the essay topic will be taken up for a detailed discussion. The discussion will explore how the topic can be interpreted, how its scope can be identified, what dimensions can be developed, and how different ideas can be connected into a coherent argument. Possible introductions, claims, examples, counter-arguments, transitions and conclusions will also be discussed.

💬 Post-Writing Discussion: We will discuss the topic, possible approaches, arguments, examples and overall essay structure after the writing session.
This is a good opportunity to practise writing a complete essay within the actual time constraint and then critically assess your approach through the discussion.

As you step into the UPSC Mains 2026 examination, I want to wish each one of you the very best for the Essay paper tomorrow and for all the papers that follow.
You have already put in Himalayan effort to reach here. Now the task is not to prove everything you know. It is to think clearly, remain composed, understand the demand of the paper, and express your best ideas with balance and structure.
For the Essay paper, choose wisely, plan before you write, stay close to the topic, and let clarity of thought guide your content.
For the remaining papers too, do not allow one difficult question or one average paper to affect the next. Every paper is a fresh opportunity. Finish one, leave it behind, and move ahead with a clear mind.
