This book (which was also prescribed at DSE as a part of one of the courses), co-authored by Joshua D Angrist, is useful for people who want to understand the application of Econometrics to research projects. Sharing it here, since some of you may want to read it in your leisure time.
P.S.: If you want to prepare Econometrics only from the DEPR (phase-I) exam’s point of view, this book is unlikely to bring much benefit to you. However, it may be useful at interview stage, if your understanding of econometrics is tested there. In previous years, candidates have been asked questions from IV, proxy, etc. at interview stage. This book explains those concepts in a simple language.
Due to unavoidable circumstances, the Test TE0007 (Macro 2), scheduled to be released on 03 Oct 2021, is being rescheduled and will now be released after 3-4weeks of the scheduled date. Inconvenience is regretted. Other tests will be released as per schedule.
The ‘Growth + Booster’ plan has been designed for anyone who wants to score well in the next year’s DEPR exam, or wants to improve her/his score in Phase-1 (compared to previous attempts) and can prepare on her/his own, with the availability of some guidance.
Please note that even if you don’t plan to subscribe to the Test Series at the moment, you should feel free to drop a message on our telegram number, in case you desire to discuss anything with us. We are with you in this journey.
All the best.
Over the past few days, we have received some queries. Sharing the response here for the benefit of other candidates:
Q1. I am unable to decide whether the ‘Growth + Booster’ plan will benefit me. Can you provide me more information on this?
Our Response: Last year, we provided 02 Full-Length Mock Tests for DEPR phase-1 examination. However, these were provided just before the exam. Those who had done some preparation by then (For ex, those who scored at least 50-60 marks, out of 100 in these mock tests), [we believe] benefitted from from and improved their performance in the 06 March 2021 exam. However, they could gain even more, if they had more time before the exam.
Further, those candidates who scored less, say around 20, were initially at a lower level of preparation. In our opinion, the gains to such candidates would have been limited. Even though they could see where they lagged, they had insufficient time before the exam to fill the gaps in their preparation.
With this background, we had decided to conduct a long-term Test Series for next year’s exam. The idea was simple. Break-down the syllabus into smaller parts and allow the candidates to prepare them gradually, with the possibility to learn & improve after each test. ‘Growth+Booster’ plan is aimed at allowing the candidates to ‘grow’ gradually as well as provide one last ‘boost’ to their preparation just before the final exam, through 3 Full-Length Mock Tests.
The 48-hour Money Back Guarantee stays valid even now. You can attempt any ONE test and if you aren’t satisfied, you can drop us a message within 48-hours of making the Payment and we will issue full refund.
Q2. In addition to the Test Series, can we expect you to bring out a video course for Phase-1 ?
Response: Not this year.

It has been exhilarating to be in touch with some bright minds over the past few months. I take this opportunity to emphasise that not everyone clears this exam in the first attempt. Many do it in second, third,…., nth attempt. If you aim to be in the next year’s list- Keep up the hard work… it has no substitute.
The marks you scored in this exam will be released after a few days. Analyse them. See where you lagged. Begin the work to fill the gaps.
The next cycle of recruitment may begin anytime after these selected candidates join the job. Please begin serious preparation.
All the best !
Who doesn’t like the taste of a sweet fruit, but you know that it comes at a cost… hard work and perseverance. In fact, the share in fruits is limited and it often goes to those whose willingness to pay for the cost is highest. Congratulations to those whose hardwork has been aptly rewarded and have made it to the final list. Mumbai awaits you and so does a bright career ahead !
As you are aware, RBI DEPR Phase-1 exam places high weightage on Statistics and Econometrics portion. Many students fail to see their name in the final list, primarily because they were not thorough with the preparation of these subjects. You should not make this mistake !
Our first Mock Test on Statistics as a part of ‘Growth + Booster’ plan will be released next weekend. Needless to add, like previous Mock Tests, this test will also aim to test your understanding of the topics included in the syllabus of this test and hope to improve your knowledge by introducing you to questions based on many different concepts.
In order to maximise your gains, before attempting the test, please be prepared with the syllabus outlined in the schedule uploaded on our website. In case you attempt the test without thorough preparation from your side, your gains from practising Mock Tests remain limited.
Surely, you already know that DEPR interviews of previous year have already been completed. The result can be declared anytime now. The next cycle is expected to begin anytime after joining (roughly 40-50 days from announcement of result) of selected candidates.
It’s time to pull-up your socks !
As you are beginning to practice questions on the portal, we strongly believe that you should go through the solutions to all questions at least once, even those that you’ve answered correctly. Some questions may contain some information that you were hitherto unaware of.
The solutions of questions which you got wrong or couldn’t attempt, should be revised multiple times. In fact, not just those questions… you SHOULD revise the whole concept. For instance, if you’ve got a question related to Substitution Effect & Income Effect wrong, then spend some 20-30 minutes and revise the whole concept of SE & IE, including diagrams. Similarly, for other questions too.
Please keep in mind that during those 2 hours of Phase-1 examination, you need to have the syllabus of at least 4 subjects on your tips… the syllabus which was taught to you over a period of 4-6 semesters ! Revision is the key to it!
A gentle reminder: 05 September 2021 is the last day to claim 10% discount on ‘Growth + Booster’ plan.
Use Code: DEPR22
The Growth + Booster plan is now active. The first test (Micro-1) is also uploaded on the portal. In case you experience any technical glitch, please feel free to drop a message on our telegram number.
You can use this first test to evaluate whether you would like to stay enrolled in the Test Series. You can consider this test to be representative of future tests in this plan. If after attempting this Mock Test, you feel that you don’t want to stay enrolled in it, please drop a message on our telegram number (within 48 hours since you’ve made the payment). We will issue full refund. No questions asked.
Please note that after 48 hours of making the payment, your GST invoice will get generated at our end and no refund will be applicable after that.
We sincerely hope that the Test Series proves ‘significantly’ beneficial for you.
All the best.
All candidates are requested to revise the basics of mathematical techniques of differentiation and integration, before attempting the Micro-1 test, which is scheduled to be released on 23 Aug 2021.
