The line graph depicts how much the average cost of monthly contracts for each of four mobile phone providers was in one European country between January and September 2002.   Overall, Demo was the most expensive provider for most of the period, although it was overtaken by Sim TX in September. Sim TX experienced by far the most dramatic increase, while Alpha followed an almost opposite pattern after reaching a peak in June. Lex, by contrast, showed relatively modest fluctuations but ended the period at its highest price.  Contract costs of Demo dropped several times over these nine months- first slightly, in April, to little higher than what was recorded in January (€15), and then successively after July, the month when the amount reached a peak of €25, ultimately accounting for roughly €23 in September. Only from May to June, the figures maintained the same level at €20, whereas in other months, costs continued to rise, especially sharply by May and July. Lex generally ran a close second, although its prices dipped by a meagre of €2 in February and June, from around €12 and €14 in respective previous months. Cost growth was mainly consistent, eventually increasing to about €18 in the final month.   For Alpha, June was of greater importance, since it surpassed Lex, recording its all-time high cost, though it was marginally higher compared to that of its counterpart mentioned. Contrary to consistent rises in costs until June, Alpha experienced declines at a similar rate in the last three months, offering the most inexpensive contract, in the region of €8, in September. As for Sim TX, monthly contract fees hovered at €5 and €6 until June before rising substantially in the remaining months, leaving those of other providers behind and amounting to €25 in September.   296 words #byARIF @arifielts

People often do different activities before the bedtime, and someone like me who loves writing finds a recent task 1 question and challenges himself for a few minutes. Believe it or not, such activities are so good for stress relief and so much fun. Below, you can find my sample. @arifielts

Consistency is the key to success. I first met Javohir last year in Summer when he came to me to prepare for IELTS together with his sister. Unfortunately, his sister had to stop the course after a month or two due to health reasons, but Javohir and I continued the journey. Both siblings showed remarkable resilience, determination, and a healthy sense of competition throughout their preparation. That sibling rivalry eventually paid off, with both of them achieving an impressive 8.0 overall at such a young age. What a combination, and what a family! I’d also like to express my sincere gratitude to their parents, especially their mother. She would often come to see me personally, ask about their progress, make sure they were doing their homework, and even encourage me to push them harder. That level of parental involvement and guidance undoubtedly played a major role in their success. @arifielts Your mentor

REAL TASK 2 QUESTION (August 30) Parents should encourage their children to spend more time on physical activities than studying. To what extent do you agree or disagree? There is a view suggesting that parents ought to encourage their children to spend more time on physical activities than on studying. Although the health and cognitive benefits of sports are immense for children’s overall well-being, I believe it is essential to strike a balance between the time allocated to these two useful activities, since both contribute significantly to one’s development. Encouraging children to spend a greater proportion of their daily lives doing physical activities is truly beneficial. Health-wise, regular exercise improves blood circulation and sleep patterns, while keeping children in shape and helping them build stronger muscles. The cognitive benefits are even greater. Children who do sports regularly tend to study more productively and cope with stress more effectively. Through constant movement and physical exertion, their cardiovascular system functions more efficiently, helping oxygen reach the brain and other vital organs. Unlike their peers who hardly ever work out, children who exercise regularly often have better memory and concentration, feel more energetic and motivated to study, and may even become more competitive and ambitious. However, physical exercise should not come at the expense of studying, since education is just as significant. Putting too much emphasis on physical activities might sometimes be counterproductive, encouraging children to prioritise sport over their studies. It may create the misconception that sport is the key to success in life, while education is of secondary importance. As a result, children might become less committed to their studies and underperform at school, particularly when they start pursuing sport professionally from an early age. Instead, a wise and balanced allocation of children’s time between sport and education would certainly make a huge positive difference, helping them excel in both at the same time. By maintaining such a balance, parents can raise children who are both healthy and well-educated. In conclusion, although I strongly recognise the numerous benefits of physical activities, I do not believe that children should spend more time on sport than on studying. Rather than prioritising one over the other, parents should encourage their children to give sufficient time and attention to both, as this is more likely to help them grow into healthy, capable and well-rounded individuals. #classwork 360 words #byARIF @arifielts

I am never good enough in my mother’s eyes. My higher degree from a top-tier German university, an IELTS score of 8.5, and countless success stories seem to mean very little to her. No matter what I achieve, she finds a way to compare me with someone who has bought a more expensive car or a bigger house. I know she means well. In her mind, she is giving me advice and motivating me to keep pushing myself. What she doesn’t realize is that her words often tear me apart rather than inspire me. They make me feel as though everything I have achieved is somehow still not enough. Sometimes, I want to confront her the way I would confront anyone else who crosses the line. But she raised me in a way that makes it almost impossible for me to say anything that might sound disrespectful. And, for that, I will always be grateful to her. As both a parent and a child myself, I understand how difficult it is to strike the right balance. Parents want the best for their children. They are constantly fighting their own battles, hoping to see their children climb mountains, overcome obstacles, and achieve one success after another. Yet, in that pursuit, they sometimes fail to realize that their words can hurt the very people they are trying to encourage. I am a middle-aged adult now, and perhaps what I have written here may sound ridiculous at my age. But I suspect this is a struggle many of us quietly carry—a problem we rarely know how to solve. Perhaps the hardest thing about growing up is realizing that the person who loves you the most can sometimes be the person who makes you feel the least enough. ARIF
