Narrated that Imam Ali bin Husain (عليه السلام) said, "May God have Mercy upon Al-Abbas (عليه السلام), who preferred his brother to himself and sacrificed himself for his brother as a result of which both his hands were cut off (by the enemies). Allah substituted him two wings so that he can fly in Paradise along with the angels, as Allah did the same for Jafar ibn Abi Talib (عليه السلام). Indeed Abbas (عليه السلام) has such a high rank near Allah (تبارك وتعالى) which all the martyrs will envy on the Resurrection Day." (Source: al-Amali, Sheikh Sadooq, Pg. 277)

~ Foundation for the Killing of Imam Husain (as) ~ Narrated by Abu Basir from Abu Abdillah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) about the saying of Allah (عز وجل), "Nowhere is there a secret counsel between three persons but He is the fourth of them, nor (between) five but He is the sixth of them, nor less than that nor more but He is with them wheresoever they are; then He will inform them of what they did on the day of resurrection: surely Allah is aware of all things". (58:7) Imam (عليه السلام) said, "This was Revealed regarding Fulan and Fulan (i.e. Abu Bakr and Umar), and Abu Ubeyda Ibn Al-Jarrah, and Abdul Rahman Ibn Awf, and Saalim Mawla Abu Huzeyfa, and Al-Mugheira Bin Sho’ba, when they wrote the agreement in between them and took a pledge and agreed that if Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله) were to pass away, they would not let the Caliphate to be in the Clan of Hashim, nor the Prophet-hood ever, So Allah (عز وجل) Revealed this Verse with regards to them". I (Abu Basir) said, about the saying of Allah (عز وجل), "Or have they settled an affair? Then surely, we are the settlers. Or do they think that We do not hear what they conceal and their secret discourses? Indeed (We do), and Our messengers are by them, to record" (43:79-80). Imam (عليه السلام) said, "And these two Verse were Revealed regarding them (i.e who wrote the agreement as mentioned above) on that day". Imam (عليه السلام) further said, "Perhaps you think that there is a day resembling the day of the writing of the agreement? (No) Except for the day Al-Husain (عليه السلام) was killed, and thus it had preceded in the Knowledge of Allah (عز وجل) which He Made known to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله) that when the agreement was written down, Al-Husain (عليه السلام) was Killed*, and the kingdom would exit from the Clan of Hashim and indeed all of that did take place." (Source: al-Kafi, Vol. 8, Hadith. 202) *Note: This indicates that the foundation for the killing of Imam Husain (عليه السلام) was laid when the agreement was written to prevent Imam Ali (عليه السلام) from becoming the Caliph after the Prophet. The reference to this agreement can be found even in the Prophets (ص) sermon of Ghadeer

~ Mission of the companions of Imam Husain (عليه السلام) ~ Narrated as part of a lengthy hadith from Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام), from His father Imam Baqir (عليه السلام), from Imam His father Imam Ali ibn Husain (عليه السلام), That when Imam Husain (عليه السلام) gave permission to His companions to leave Him in the night of 10 Muharram, A man named Zuhayr bin al-Qayn al-Bajali stood up and said, "O son of the Messenger of Allah! I wish I were killed (for you), then revived, then killed, then revived, then killed, then revived for you and for those with you - one hundred times so that Allah would protect You -the Ahl al-Bayt, through me." (Source: al-Amali, Shaikh Sadooq, Assembly. 30, Hadith. 1)

From a Ziyarat of Imam Husain (عليه السلام) as narrated from Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام): "O my master, I have come to your Ziyarat carrying my sins, I seek closeness to my Lord by coming to You and by my crying, my lamenting, my sorrow, my grief, and my weeping over You. And (have come to You) carrying that about which I am afraid for myself, hoping that You will be for me a barrier, a support, a cave, a refuge, an intercessor (Shafi) and protection from the fire tomorrow." "I am one of your followers who has enmity with your enemies and loves your friends. And I shall live, die, and be resurrected upon this belief In-sha-Allah." "Indeed, I have carried my body, and I have bid farewell to my family and have traveled a long distance, I hope for salvation by being near to You. I hope to return in your time and I hope to look at you and your positions in heaven of my Lord tomorrow along with your forefathers." (Source: Kamil al-Ziyarat, Pg. 418)

~ Tears flowing down the cheek ~ Narrated with a chain of trustworthy narrators that Imam Ali ibn Husain (عليه السلام) said, "Whoever among the believers sheds a tear from his eye for the killing of Husain (عليه السلام) until it flows down his cheek, Allah (تعالى) will grant him rooms in Paradise to dwell in for ages. And whoever among the believers sheds a tear from his eye until it flows down his cheek for the harm that has befallen Us from our enemies in the world, Allah will grant him a dwelling in place of truth. And whoever among the believers is harmed for Our sake and sheds a tear from his eye until it flows down his cheek out of distress or harm for Our sake, Allah will turn away harm from his face and secure him from the wrath of the Fire on the Day of Judgment." (Source: Thawab al-Amal, Shaikh Sadooq, Vol. 1, Pg. 83)

~ Supporting Fatimah Zahra (عليها السلام) ~ From a lengthy narration as narrated from Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام): وما من عين أحب إلى الله ولا عبرة من عين بكت ودمعت عليه، وما من باك يبكيه الا وقد وصل فاطمة (عليهما السلام) وأسعدها عليه، ووصل رسول الله وادي حقنا "There are no eyes and tears loved more by Allah than the eyes of those who cry and shed tears over Imam Husayn (عليه السلام). And there is none who cries upon Him, but that He has connected with Fatimah (عليها السلام) and he supported Her upon it, and has connected with the Prophet of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله) and has fulfilled Our rights." ~ Dua of Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) ~ As part of narration, Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) supplicates for the visitors of Imam Husain (عليه السلام): (O Allah) So have mercy on those faces changed by (heat of) the sun. Have mercy on those cheeks which are overturned upon the grave of Abu Abd-Allah al-Husain (عليه السلام). Have mercy on those eyes which shed tears having sympathy with Us. Have mercy on those hearts which have become restless/anxious and feeling burned for Us. And have mercy on those loud crying (screams) for Us. (Source: Kamil al-Ziyarat, Chapter. 40, Hadith. 2)

~ Moving towards death ~ From a long narration narrated from Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام): "Imam Husayn (عليه السلام) moved forward until He reached al-Udhayb, where He had a bried nap at noon. He then woke up from His sleep while crying and His son asked Him, What causes You to cry, O Father?" Imam Husayn (عليه السلام) replied, "My dear Son, this is a time (of sleep) during which dreams are not false. I saw a vision in my dream in which someone said to Me, "You are moving fast on Your journey, while death is leading You to Paradise." (Source: al-Amali, Shaikh Sadooq, Pg. 218)

~ No Day like Ashura ~ Narrated as part of a narration that Imam Ali bin Husain (عليه السلام) said, "And there is no day like the day of Husain (عليه السلام), thirty thousand men advanced towards Him who claimed to be from this (Islamic) community, all drawing closer to Allah (عز وجل) by (spilling) his blood. And by Allah, He reminded them but they did not take heed, until they killed Him unjustly with oppression and aggression." (Source: al-Amali, Sheikh Sadooq, Pg. 277)
