“We’re hoping that a higher court will see the inequity of Jeremy Johnson’s judgement!” Sam, Lottie, Ellie and Fatema Zainab of the Filton 25 have appealed their sentence and the terror connection added to their case by judge Johnson. They acted out of conscience against the Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems in order to prevent the ongoing genocide and save lives. This was the first time in British history that direct actionists are being unjustly sentenced and imprisoned for years as terrorists. For decades, terror laws have been used to oppress Muslims, these laws are political and seek to stifle dissent. Now we see their use expanded towards anyone who resists genocide. Direct action is not terrorism. Abolish terror laws.

Palestine Action has now been proscribed as a terrorist organisation on both sides of the Atlantic! This ban follows USA plans to clamp down on left wing activism globally. Palestine Action holds no territory and commands no army. Its focus is on disrupting arms trade sustaining a genocide in Gaza. The proscription is an attempt to silence pro-Palestine advocacy and resistance. Terror laws are at the centre of this and must be abolished. Five years ago, the world watched in stunned disbelief as the final American military aircraft left Kabul, bringing a chaotic and humiliating end to a 20-year occupation. For the West, it was a strategic failure of historic proportions. But for those of us who have witnessed the reality of the global “war on terror” from the inside, this outcome was a predictable end. The Afghan resistance did what it has always done: outlasted an invading superpower. The transition of power to the Islamic Emirate was remarkably orderly and peaceful. Many senior ministers running the current Afghan government are former Guantanamo prisoners. Those who once wore the orange jumpsuits of American cages are the ones shaping the destiny of their nation. Justice requires the West to acknowledge the generational trauma it inflicted, end its punitive sanctions, and allow Afghanistan the space to determine its own destiny.

The alleged UAE operation to surveil and assassinate Anas Altikriti comes as the UAE continues to deepen its diplomatic relations with the UK and Israel. The UAE has been instrumental in targeting Muslims in the West, weaponising the language and policies of the global war on terror. They’ve shown, once ‘listed’ or ‘proscribed’, the escalation of violent state action can be lethal. We stand in solidarity with Anas Altikriti and The Cardoba Foundation echoing their calls for a full investigation into the UK government’s knowledge and role in this plot to assassinate a British national on British soil. VICTORY: TONY GREENSTEIN FOUND NOT GUILTY A writer and Palestine campaigner, Tony Greenstein was prosecuted under terrorism laws over his public statements on Palestine. Today, the jury unanimously found him not guilty. Greenstein’s defence was simple: supporting an act carried out by an organisation, or sharing its views, is not the same as inviting support for the organisation itself. Supporting Palestine is not terrorism. Abolish terror laws.

“Our politicians are happy to hold up their blood-stained hands!” The Barclays 5 have been cleared of any terror connection. CAGE stands in solidarity with the Barclays 5, who were prosecuted for taking direct action against Barclays’ funding of Elbit Systems, an Israeli weapons manufacturer. Abolish terror laws.

VICTORY: The prosecution failed to secure a single conviction against any of those present in court today as part of the Filton25 second trial. Today’s verdict is another victory for the movement against a genocidal entity determined to put Palestine activism on trial, treating resistance to Britain’s role in genocide as terrorism. These defendants were not at the Filton site on the night of the action. They were each accused, on a joint enterprise basis, of assisting or encouraging the action at Elbit Systems’ Filton weapons factory, which led to the destruction of 40 Israeli weapons. Elbit Systems is Israel’s largest weapons firm, producing 85% of Israel’s military drone fleet, used to massacre Palestinians in Gaza. This is another embarrassing defeat for an establishment that threw all its resources into convicting them.
