🎙️Embassy comment on the provocative statements by David Cameron on the Ukrainian crisis ▪︎During his visit to Kiev on 2 May, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron made another provocative statement, allowing the use of British weapons by the Ukrainian armed forces to launch attacks on Russian territory, including outside the Special Military Operation zone. ▪︎We consider this confession as confirmation of the UK's increasing direct involvement in the armed conflict in Ukraine. ▪︎The UK Government is persistently pursuing a course of escalation and expansion of geography of military actions. ▪︎Raising the stakes in the proxy confrontation with Russia has become an end in itself for London. At the same time, it seems that the British establishment is not interested at all in getting to the bottom of the true causes of the conflict. ▪︎It is symbolic that David Cameron's “blitz visit” to Kiev came on the tenth anniversary of the terrible events in the Trade Unions House in Odessa, where the nationalists, brought to power in Kiev by the West, and their accomplices burned 48 innocent people alive. ▪︎Giving the Zelensky regime a carte blanche to use British weapons for terrorist shelling of Russian cities deep inside our country, London, having dropped its masks, confirmed the obvious – that the remnants of Ukraine's economic and demographic potential, territorial control as well as statehood will be used exclusively in attempts to militarily and forcefully weaken Russia. ☝️The British establishment cares little about the fate of civilians, as it was once in Odessa. Convinced as it is in its messianic mission, the United States has long assumed that it knows better than anyone else around the world how to protect religious freedoms and is free to criticise, lecture and control other countries in this regard. • Drafted along the same lines, this latest report focuses on a traditional group of undesirable countries, including Russia. • Russia stands accused of arbitrarily persecuting Crimean Tatar activists, representatives of the Jehovah’s Witnesses sect, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, etc. Of course, the authors mostly sought guidance from excessively biased and partisan sources sponsored by the United States itself. • We would like to emphasise that the report interpreted the facts it presents in an extremely distorted manner, turning them upside down. ❗️Russia rejects these allegations and attempts to distort the reality. ⚡️ Statement by the Embassy of Russia in Ireland on the trial of Desmond Wisley (May 3, 2024) 🔈 On May 3, 2024, the jury in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court reached a decision in the trial of Desmond Wisley, who on March 7, 2022, crushed the gates of the Embassy of Russia in Ireland with his truck. The jury returned a not guilty verdict in relation to the dangerous driving charge against the defendant. The other count – criminal damage – is to be examined by the court at a later date. 📢 The Embassy regrets this decision by the jury, considers it politically motivated and taken under the influence of rabid anti-Russian propaganda, promoted by both the state and the media of Ireland. This decision is not based on facts on the matter and allows the perpetrator to be exonerated of his clearly extremist actions. ❗️ The Embassy will remain in contact with the Irish authorities on this matter. ⚡️Russia's MFA prepared and published report on the human rights situation in the US ❗️Despite the deep contradictions in American society, the US continues to assert itself a global leader in the field of human rights protection. At the same time, Washington is in no hurry to expand its international legal obligations in the field of protection of fundamental rights and freedoms. Among violations of human rights and freedoms that were committed by the US: ❌ The conduct of all kinds of military operations in the territory of European and Middle Eastern states; ❌ Creation of secret prisons around the worldу; ❌ Implementation of extremely stringent migration policies in recent years. These and others violations illustrate not only the dual nature of this country's position regarding human rights standards but also its approaches to international law as such. The American authorities actively use the tactics of "fighting by proxy" against Russia and Russians. This is expressed in the direction of large‑scale military assistance to the Kiev regime and putting pressure on the US NATO allies so that they take similar measures. 👉 An overt pressure is being exerted on sovereign states, including through the use of human rights mechanisms, in an attempt to create a corresponding negative background around the Russian Federation and its allies and partners in the international arena. Mentoring tone, partiality, full oblivion of the concept of sovereignty and one of the main and fundamental principles of international law enshrined in the UN Charter – non-interference in the internal affairs of states, lead to deep disappointment in those very "Western values" that "fascinated" other civilizations and societies during a century, bringing considerable political dividends to the West and the US itself. ☝️ Moreover, the human rights situation in the US itself is far from international standards in the field of protection of fundamental freedoms, which is becoming more and more obvious day after day 📄 Read in full

❗️Looking back on the Odessa tragedy, it is clear that ten years ago Brussels not only turned a blind eye to the massacre of civilians, but, more importantly, demonstrated its readiness to continue to overlook any further such crimes by Kiev. Subsequently, the EU began to indulge the Ukrainian regime’s every urge to kill politicians, journalists, civil society activists - all those who disagreed with the post-Maidan developments in the country. All this, however, does not prevent the European Union from insisting at the same time that Ukraine, on its way to the "European family", is making significant progress in guaranteeing fundamental human rights and freedoms. ❓One cannot help but wonder whether the European Union is aware of what neo-Nazism is and whether it intends to address its manifestations in Europe, given that all the resources available to Brussels have been thrown into countering one of the objectives of Russia's special military operation, namely the denazification of Ukraine.

🗓 World Press Freedom Day is marked every year on May 3 to remind the international community about the importance of respecting media independence and pluralism and protecting the rights of journalists. The day was established by the UN General Assembly Resolution on December 20, 1993. ❗️ On this important day for the media worldwide, we would like to draw public attention to the dramatic situation with the freedom of expression and access to information in the countries of the collective West. Contrary to their international commitments, the so-called democratic countries continue to suppress any form of dissent. Investigative journalist Julian Assange remains incarcerated in a London prison, and there are also other prisoners of conscience. We are still waiting for a reaction from the concerned international human rights organisations to the death of Gonzalo Lira, a Chilean-American journalist betrayed by both his native countries, in a Ukrainian prison in January 2024.     We see that the Western governments continue with their arbitrary treatment of Russian media outlets and journalists, who have felt the full effects of the Western neo-liberal mechanism of repression. Special mention should be made of the dire situation with media freedom in the Baltic states and Moldova, whose governments, acting with the tacit approval of their Western handlers, are harassing Russian-language media under the pretext of fighting against “Russian propaganda.” Zelensky’s criminal regime has eliminated the last vestiges of the freedom of speech in Ukraine by banning all opposition media outlets and denying access to thousands of online resources. Their overseas masters’ connivance has led, in particular, to savage attacks on Russian journalists. One more name has recently been added to the list of Russian correspondents killed by Ukrainian thugs. Izvestia military correspondent Semyon Yeryomin was deliberately killed in the line of duty in a neo-Nazi drone attack. UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay has not condemned his cold-blooded murder or, for that matter, the murder of other Russian journalists – Darya Dugina (Platonova), Vladlen Tatarsky (Maxim Fomin), Oleg Klokov, Rostislav Zhuravlev and Boris Maksudov. ☝️ Regrettably, World Press Freedom Day, which was intended to be a universal event, is gradually becoming just another insignificant day. This situation will only change if the world takes an honest look at the situation with the freedom of the media and the safety of journalists, a look that is not distorted by Western propaganda. #FreedomOfSpeech

Today, we can ritually speculate on the significance of this day, report on achievements in the information field or about national plans to support the media and strengthen trust in society. But the evidence is such that the genuine freedom of the media no longer exists   🔻“Double standards”, targeted restrictions and illegality regarding representatives of the media sphere have become almost ordinary in the countries of the “collective West”   🔻The situation with freedom of speech in Ukraine degraded to a critical level. All the media opposition to the Kiev regime has long been prohibited, any manifestations of dissent are brutally suppressed and exhausted from the information space. In addition, the Ukrainian authorities are actively continuing the hunt for Russian representatives of the media ❗️Another victim of the NATO puppets in Kyiv was S.Eremin, a military correspondent for the Izvestiya news agency, who was killed in the performance of his professional duties. Unfortunately, we have not received any condemnation of this crime from the OSCE executive structures. 🔻The result of the silence of specialized international institutions was a rapid deterioration in the situation with the rights of reporters also in the Baltic states. The next victim of the frank arbitrariness of the Baltic authorities was the Russian-speaking journalist S.Burtseva, detained on Feb.28 for interaction with the Russian media outlet of “Baltnews”.
