Are you comfortable reading my triplets? 3️⃣
They’re not so scary, actually. 👻
I’m writing them here using a “headless” notation so that you can match what you see and hear with what’s written. 🎶
Usually, you’ll see most of these written using rests. 😴
Either way, it’s good to have a solid intuition for what each of these figures correspond to on paper. 📄

Cut it in half every time you add ✂️

Whole note - 4 beats
Half note - 2 beats
Quarter note - 1 beat
Eighth note - 1/2 beat
Sixteenth note - 1/4 beat

Here’s how they match up in terms of lengths:
1️⃣ whole note
2️⃣ half notes
4️⃣quarter no
8️⃣ eighth notes
1️⃣6️⃣ sixteenth notes
(This is all assuming we’re in 4/4 time).
