Modeling a Two-Phase Nonisothermal Zero-Gap Alkaline Water Electrolyzer Alkaline water electrolyzers produce the majority of clean hydrogen today, though green hydrogen only makes up < 1% of all hydrogen production. This is largely because of the higher investment and operating costs compared to less sustainable methods. To lower the overall costs, designers can use modeling and simulation to optimize the design and operating conditions that impact the electric energy consumption as well as reduce the need for prototypes during development.
