5 NATURAL ENGLISH EXPRESSIONS YOU SHOULD KNOW

IELTS TIP:

The goal isn't to sound “fancy.” The goal is to sound natural, precise and effortless.

At the expense of… به قیمتِ / به بهایِ چیزی Economic growth should not come at the expense of environmental sustainability.

A far cry from… بسیار متفاوت از / فاصله زیادی با چیزی داشتن Modern lifestyles are a far cry from those of previous generations.

Use the PEEL structure

For every body paragraph: Point → Main idea Explanation → Explain it Example → Give an example Link → Connect to the question

Example:

One major advantage of online education is its flexibility. Students can study at their own pace and schedule. For instance, working adults often complete degrees while maintaining full-time jobs. Therefore, online learning makes education more accessible.

تکنیک طلایی برای Band 7+

بعد از هر تست Section 4، اشتباهاتت را در این 5 دسته قرار بده: 1. Didn't hear → نشنیدم 2. Didn't understand → فهمیدم ولی معنی را نگرفتم 3. Paraphrase → عبارت متفاوت بود 4. Distractor → گول اطلاعات اولیه را خوردم 5. Spelling/Grammar → جواب را فهمیدم ولی غلط نوشتم اگر مثلاً بیشتر اشتباهاتت 3 و 4 هستند، مشکل اصلی تو Listening ability نیست؛ بلکه prediction و paraphrase recognition است. 🏆 قانون طلایی Section 4

Don't listen to every word. Listen for the structure, predict the answer, follow the signposts, and move on when you miss one.

برای Band 7–8، Section 4 را باید بیشتر به‌عنوان یک تمرین پیش‌بینی + تشخیص پارافریز ببینی، نه صرفاً «گوش دادن».

“I’m blown away!” means:

👉 I’m extremely impressed, amazed, or surprised. 👉 فارسی: خیلی شگفت‌زده شدم / واقعاً تحت تأثیر قرار گرفتم / محشره!

Examples:

I’m blown away by your progress! از پیشرفتت واقعاً شگفت‌زده شدم! The performance was incredible—I was blown away. اجرا فوق‌العاده بود؛ واقعاً شگفت‌زده شدم. I was blown away by how beautiful the city was. از اینکه شهر چقدر زیبا بود واقعاً تحت تأثیر قرار گرفتم. 💡

Note: This is an informal and very natural expression and is commonly used in everyday English. Similar expressions:

I’m amazed. = شگفت‌زده‌ام I’m impressed. = تحت تأثیر قرار گرفته‌ام I’m speechless. = زبانم بند آمده / نمی‌دانم چه بگویم My mind is blown! 🤯 = ذهنم منفجر شد! / واقعاً شوکه و شگفت‌زده شدم!

IELTS Speaking tip:

Instead of always saying “I was very surprised,” you can naturally say:

I was absolutely blown away by it.

This can make your speaking sound more natural and idiomatic.

Colloquial language:

    ·  Get an eyeful of someone/something: کسی/چیزی را با دقت و به‌طور کامل تماشا کردن ·  Get a grip: خودت را کنترل کن / بر خودت یا اوضاع مسلط شو ·  Be grounded: واقع‌بین، متعادل و فروتن بودن; همچنین برای کودک: تنبیه شدن و اجازه بیرون رفتن نداشتن    @cambridgeielts2025

توصیه طلایی برای رسیدن از نمره 6 به 7 و بالاتر:

Don’t try to sound more intelligent. Try to be more precise, logical, and controlled. تلاش نکن فقط باهوش‌تر و پیشرفته‌تر به نظر برسی؛ تلاش کن دقیق‌تر، منطقی‌تر و مسلط‌ تر بنویسی.

نکته مهم بخش writing: مشکل اصلی بسیاری از داوطلبان 7 این است:

outweigh → for advantages, disadvantages, benefits, drawbacks, effects

→ The benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

exceed → very useful for numbers, figures, amounts

→ The figure exceeded 50%.

surpass → means go beyond / be greater than and is slightly more advanced.
