Healthy Lifestyle of A Muslim
A healthy diet is emphasized as part of overall well-being.
Sunnah: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recommended eating in moderation, saying,
“The worst vessel the son of Ādam can fill is his stomach. It is sufficient for him to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight, but if he must, then a third for food, a third for drink, and a third for air." Sunan Tirmidhī.
Imām Ibn Qayyim mentions:
“When a person is moderate in his eating and takes only so much of it as he needs, keeping a balance of quantity and quality, the body benefits more from this than it does from a large amount of food.” At-Tibb An-Nabawī [p.20]
Action Plan:
- Follow the Prophet's ﷺ guidance by consuming food in moderation, dividing your stomach into thirds.
- Regular excerise is advised to keep fit and healthy.
- Eat only what is necessary to sustain yourself, avoiding gluttony and food waste, as both are discouraged in Islām.

What Is A Good Life?
Allāh says,
“Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life..."
An-Nahl 16: 97.
Explanation:
- The correct view [regarding the meaning of the verse] is that it is the spiritual life of the heart and finding joy and delight in faith, knowing Allāh, loving Him, turning to Him and putting one’s trust in Him. No life is better than the life of the one who has attained this, and no delight is greater than the delights of such a life, except the delights of Paradise.
- What life could be better than the life of one who has all his worries and concerns reduced to a single worry and concern, which is to please Allāh.
Madārij as-Sālikīn [3/259] - Ibn Qayyim
Action Plan:
1 - Seek Islamic knowledge
2 - Perform all the obligatory acts and strive to do voluntary deeds.
3 - Focus on purifying the heart from all diseases.
4 - Find comfort in worshipping Allāh in private.

The Station of Contentment [Ar-Ridā]
Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said:
“Contentment is one of the greatest gateways to Allāh. It is the paradise of the world, a repose [tranquil] for the pious, a life for the lovers, a delight for the worshipers, and a coolness of the eye to the yearners.”
Madārij as-Sālikīn [2/132]
Reflections:
- Contentment comes from knowing Allāh is the best of planners.
- Accepting Allāh’s decree is the path to true happiness.
- Patience and Imān transform challenges into blessings.
Action plan
- Place your trust in Allāh in all your affairs.
- Maintain a good opinion of Allāh no matter the decree.
- Say the following supplications to help gain contentment from Allāh:
اللَّهُمَّ أَسْأَلُكَ الرِّضَا بِالْقَدَرِ
“O Allāh, I ask You for contentment with the decree of providence.”
اللهُمَّ رَضِّنِي بِقَضَائِكَ وَبَارِكْ لِي فِي قَدْرَكَ
“O Allāh, make me content with Your decree and bless me in what You have decreed.”

How Much Do You Remember Allāh Daily?
Qur’ān: Allāh says,
“Surely in the remembrance of Allāh do hearts find comfort"
Sūrah Ar-Ra'd: 28
Spiritual Development: Imām Ibn Taymīyyah said:
“Dhikr [Remembrance of Allāh] is to the heart as water is to a fish; see what happens when a fish is taken out of water!”
See Al-Wābil As-Sayyib [p.63].
Practical steps to remember Allāh on a daily basis:
1 - Incorporate Dhikr into daily tasks like commuting or cooking.
2 - Set fixed times each day for focused remembrance of Allāh.
3 - Use phone reminders or apps to help keep up with daily Dhikr.
4 - Start now with this Dhikr which is light on the tongue, heavy on the Scale and beloved to Allāh:
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيْم
“Allāh is free from imperfection and all praise is due to Him, Allāh is free from imperfection, the Greatest.”

How to Assess the State of Your Heart - Imām Ibn al-Qayyim
Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said, “Seek out your heart in three places:
[1] When listening to the Qur’ān,
[2] in the gatherings of [Allāh’s] remembrance [circles of knowledge], and
[3] when [alone] in privacy,
If you do not find it in these places, then ask Allāh to grant you a heart – for verily, you do not have one.”
See Al-Fawā’id [p. 479]
Action plan:
- Read the Qur’ān for at least 20 minutes daily.
- Attend at least one Islamic class per week.
- Engage in the remembrance of Allāh in private.
- Read the following supplications:
يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ
“O Turner of the hearts, affirm my heart upon Your religion.”
اللّٰهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ قَلْبِي وَعَمَلِي
“O Allāh rectify my heart and my action”
اللهُمَّ طَهِّرْ قَلْبِي مِنْ كُلِّ سُوْءٍ
“O Allāh, purify my heart from every evil.”

Repost from Words of Wisdom Ibn al-Qayyim
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:
“If a rank is decided by Allāh for a servant which he could not attain by his deeds, Allāh afflicts him with distress in his body or children or wealth, and makes him bear it in patience until he achieves that rank which was written for him.”

A Respected Companion: Abū ‘Ubaydah [May Allāh be pleased with him] is one of the ten companions promised Paradise. Known for his exceptional character, humility, and leadership, Abū ‘Ubaydah was a close and trusted companion of the Prophet ﷺ, embodying the virtues of faith, courage, and integrity.
Early Conversion to Islām: Abū ‘Ubaydah was among the earliest converts to Islam. He accepted Islām through the Da'wah of Abū Bakr al-Siddīq [May Allāh be pleased with him].
A Role Model of Humility and Integrity: Throughout his life, Abū ‘Ubaydah was known for his humility and unwavering integrity. The Prophet ﷺ once described him as “The trustworthy one of this Ummah”.
Courage in Battle: Abū ‘Ubaydah played a significant role in several key battles alongside the Prophet ﷺ. His bravery was particularly evident in the Battle of Badr, where he fought valiantly to protect the Muslim army. Despite the personal challenge of facing his own father, who was fighting on the side of the Quraysh, Abū ‘Ubaydah remained steadfast in his duty to defend Islām, ultimately slaying his father in battle.
Leadership in the Battle of Uhud: During the Battle of Uhud, Abū ‘Ubaydah’s courage and leadership were once again on full display. When the Prophet ﷺ was injured, Abū ‘Ubaydah rushed to his side, removing two metal links from the Prophet’s ﷺ cheek with his own teeth, losing two of his teeth in the process. This selfless act exemplified his deep love for the Prophet ﷺ and his willingness to endure personal pain to ensure the safety of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.
The Conquest of Syria: Abū ‘Ubaydah was also a key military leader during the Islamic conquests under the caliphate of Abū Bakr and ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb. He was appointed as the commander of the Muslim armies in Syria and led them to several significant victories. His leadership was characterized by both strategic brilliance and compassionate governance, earning him the respect of both his soldiers and the people of the conquered lands.
A Legacy of Trustworthiness and Faith: Abū ‘Ubaydah's life serves as a timeless example of trustworthiness, leadership, and devotion to Allāh.

Sahābah Series: Muṣʿab ibn ʿUmayr: The Man That Gave Everything For Islām
A Distinguished Companion: Muṣʿab ibn ʿUmayr [May Allāh be pleased with him] is remembered as one of the most beloved and noble companions of the Prophet ﷺ.
The Early Days: Muṣʿab was born into a wealthy and influential family in Makkah.
Dedication to the Prophet ﷺ: Muṣʿab’s devotion to the Prophet ﷺ and Islām was unwavering. When the early Muslims faced persecution in Makkah, Muṣʿab endured the hardships with patience and perseverance.
The First Ambassador of Islām: The Prophet ﷺ chose Mus‘ab to be the first ambassador of Islām. He was sent to Madīnah to teach the people about Islām.
His Da’wah: Muṣʿab played a pivotal role in converting many of the influential tribes of Madīnah to Islām, laying the foundation for the establishment of the first Islamic state.
Courage and Sacrifice in the Battle of Uhud: Muṣʿab’s dedication to Islām reached its peak during the Battle of Uhud. He was given the honor of carrying the flag of the Muslims.
Despite the intense fighting, Muṣʿab held firmly to the flag, determined to keep it raised.
When the tide of battle turned, and the Muslim forces were under severe attack, Muṣʿab displayed extraordinary courage, fighting valiantly to protect the Prophet ﷺ and the flag of Islām.
The Ultimate Sacrifice: Mus‘ab was eventually martyred in the battle by Ibn Quma’ah, who struck him with a fatal blow. His death was a great loss, but his legacy of sacrifice and commitment to Allāh’s cause remains a source of inspiration.
An Honour from the Prophet ﷺ: The Prophet ﷺ, upon seeing Muṣʿab’s body on the battlefield, was deeply moved. Muṣʿab had been so committed to Islām that he had given up his wealth and status, and when he died, he did not even have a shroud long enough to cover his entire body.
The Prophet ﷺ stood at the body of Muṣʿab saying,
“Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allāh. Of them, some have fulfilled their obligations [i.e., have been martyred]…” [33:23].
Action Plan:
- Strive to uphold the values of Islām with courage and commitment, even in the face of adversity.
- Dedicate yourself to spreading the message of Islām, using wisdom.
- Embrace a life of simplicity and sacrifice, prioritising your faith over worldly comforts, following in the footsteps of Muṣʿab.

Explanation: Imām Ibn Rajab explains:
Some of the Salaf used to say:
‘The people who truly love for Allāh observe others with the light [guidance] of Allāh, they show compassion upon the one who engages in disobedient actions, they detest their actions while showing mercy to them such that they can exhort them; turning them away from their actions [of disobedience]. They are empathetic towards the believers, seeking that their bodies should never touch the Fire.’
See Jāmiʿ al-ʿUlūm Wal Hikam [332]
Action Plan:
- Think well of your brothers and avoid negative thoughts.
- This love can only grow if we remove envy and hatred from our hearts.
- Apply this to every Muslim, not just those who practice Islām.
Mindset:
- Always wish guidance and good for the believers whether they are practising or not, regardless of their background; it is our faith which unites us.
- We want to free ourselves from selfishness and strive to have a loving and supportive heart for our brothers and sisters.

What Is Namīmah [Gossiping] In Islām?
It is a Major Sin. It involves passing talk from one person to another with the intent to corrupt and harm. It also means revealing secrets and sharing things that are not meant to be exposed. See Ihyā’ Ulūm ad-Dīn [3/156]
Hadith: Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ said, “No gossiper [nammam] will enter the Garden.” Sahīh Muslim [no. 105].
Harms of gossiping on the community:
- Creates animosity between the Muslims.
- It is a clear sign of cowardice, weakness, and deceit.
- It encourages spying and tracking others' affairs.
Action Plan:
- Do not speak about other people rather focus improving yourself.
- Making the gossiper aware of the dangers of gossiping if in his presence.
- Leave the gatherings and individuals when they start gossiping or backbiting.
Mindset:
- Focus on yourself and dont busy yourself with the affairs of others.
- Remember that the one who gossips to you, gossips about you.

What is Hasad [Envy]?
Hasad in Islām means It is the desire for the blessings of the envied to transition to the envier.
Hadith: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said,
“Do not hate each other, do not envy each other, do not turn away from each other, but rather be servants of Allāh as brothers."
Sahīh Bukhārī [no. 6065]
- Imām Ibn Qayyim mentions:
To envy is to desire the removal of Allāh’s Blessings from their owner. This is the first level of envy. The second level is to hope misfortune follows the servant [as a shadow would follow its object]. On this level the envious one wishes that the object of their envy remains ignorant, poor, weak, and hopes that their heart is separated from Allāh.
See Hasad: A Condemnation of Envy and Envious People [pg. 16]
Action Plan:
- Say *تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ* - Tabārak Allāh - May Allāh bless you, when you see a blessing on another Muslim.
Mindset:
- Love for your fellow Muslim what you love for yourself for the sake of Allāh.

Giving Charity on Behalf of the Deceased
Let us remember the deceased members of our families and friends and be a source of benefit for them in their graves, Inshā'Allāh.
‘A’ishah narrates that a man asked the Prophet ﷺ: "My mother died suddenly, and I think that if she could have spoken, she would have given charity. Will she have a reward if I give charity on her behalf?" He ﷺ replied, "Yes." Sahīh Bukhārī [no. 1388]
Projects for charity:
1. Build an Islamic school for children without access to Islamic education.
2. Support an orphanage for homeless Muslim families.
3. Sponsor an orphan.
4. Dig a well for Muslims without access to clean water.
Action Plan:
