When Faith Outweighs Mountains The Prophet ﷺ was sitting one day and some of the companions were around him. In front of them stood the noble companion Abdullāh Ibn Mas’ūd [may Allāh be pleased with him]. Then [suddenly] the wind revealed the shins of Ibn Mas'ūd. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “What are you laughing at?” They replied, “O Prophet of Allāh, he has thin shins.” The Prophet ﷺ responded, “By the One in whose hand is my soul, they [his shins] will weigh heavier on the scale [on the day of resurrection] than the mountain Uhud.” [Musnad Ahmad] “Ibn Mas’ūd may have been a slim man, but his entire life was in the service of Allāh. His worth wasn’t in the size of his muscles but in the weight of his faith. Whispers from the Depths: A Call That Never Goes Unanswered Ibn al-Qayyim said: “A distressed person does not make Du'ā’ with the supplication of Prophet Yūnus, except that Allāh drives away his distress and anxiety with Tawhīd." “When life feels overwhelming and the path to Allāh seems heavy, don’t carry your burdens alone, don’t let despair silence you. Take your complaints to the One who hears everything and the One who knows the ache you can’t put into words. Remember Prophet Yūnus [عليه السلام] alone in the belly of the whale, swallowed by darkness upon darkness. Yet he called out: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنْ الظَّالِمِينَ “There is no deity worthy of worship but You. Glory be to You. Indeed, I was of the wrongdoers." Alone with Allāh: The True Reflection of Your Faith “If you want to see the extent of your Īmān [faith] then see how you are in private.” - Imām Ibn Qayyim. “If you want to measure your true Īmān, look at who you are when no one is watching. When the doors are closed and the world is unaware, do you still guard your prayers, your speech, your eyes, and your heart? Walking behind a Janāzah and stepping through a graveyard is a powerful reminder for the one who reflects. You pass by graves of those who were 9, 17, 25 and 90, proof that death spares no one and has no age.
