1. Big Global Investors Suddenly Dumped Tech Stocks 📉
Global investment funds suddenly decided that AI and chip stocks had become way too expensive and grew worried about their actual valuations. They hit the "sell" button all at once to lock in their massive profits.
2. South Korea's "Egg Basket" Was Way Too Concentrated 🥚
The South Korean stock market (KOSPI) has a major vulnerability: Samsung and SK Hynix (the two biggest computer chip makers in the world) make up nearly half the entire market's value. Because global funds dumped those two specific stocks (causing them to crash over 12% in a single day), they dragged the entire country's stock market down into a 10% collapse.
3. A Chain Reaction of Borrowed Money (Margin Calls) 💸
A huge number of everyday retail investors in Korea had borrowed massive amounts of money from brokers to buy these rising chip stocks. When the prices started dropping, their accounts fell below safe levels.
