🇮🇳 15 AUGUST | INDEPENDENCE DAY 🇮🇳
Some days are meant to be celebrated.
Some days are meant to be remembered.
15 August is both.
India’s independence was not simply the transfer of power from one government to another. It was the culmination of decades of struggle, sacrifice, resistance and an unbreakable belief that a nation must have the right to decide its own destiny.
Thousands marched without knowing whether they would return home. Many went to prison. Many lost their livelihoods, their families and, ultimately, their lives. They fought not for a comfortable present, but for a future they themselves might never see.
Today, we inherit the freedom they dreamed of.
But freedom is not the end of the journey.
It is the beginning of a responsibility.
The responsibility to keep our institutions strong.
To respect the Constitution.
To value education and knowledge.
To protect the dignity of every citizen.
To preserve our diversity without allowing it to become a reason for division.
And above all, to contribute—each in our own way—to the making of a stronger, wiser and more just India.
The India of tomorrow will not be built by governments alone. It will be built in classrooms, laboratories, farms, offices, courts, streets and homes—by ordinary citizens who choose responsibility over indifference and progress over complacency.
We often speak about what India can become.
Perhaps the more important question is:
What are we willing to do to make it happen?Let us remember the freedom fighters not merely by putting up their photographs once a year, but by understanding the values for which they stood. Let us honour their sacrifices by becoming worthy inheritors of the freedom they secured for us. Their generation won us freedom.
