Polymarket has the Dems at 91% chance of taking the House
Since 1962, we have had 16 midterms and in 5 of them the President's party lost
the House: 1994, 2006, 2010, 2018 and 2022
In 4 of the 5 midterms where the House flipped, bonds performed well in the
subsequent 12 months
Yes, it's a small sample size, but there's potentially some causation behind it
Divided government tends to mean more gridlock, less new borrowing, so fewer
bonds for the market to absorb and less term premium demanded
NB 2022 broke the pattern. Inflation was high, the Fed was hiking, deficits were
large and term premium was rising, so similar conditions to today
