The Ḥijāb Is an Honor for the Muslim Woman 🎙Ash-Shaykh Abee Abdirahman Yahya Ibn Ali Al-Hajooree ((حفظه الله)) ♦️ Clarifies ♦️ The woman who observes the ḥijāb has honored herself, protected herself, and preserved her dignity. This ḥijāb is an honor for the woman and a safeguard for her. It grants her respect and reverence. The modest, protected woman possesses dignity and status. Some immoral women think that by uncovering themselves they are attracting and tempting people. In reality, people lose respect for the woman who exposes herself. They regard her as fallen and of little value. Rather, the point is that a woman's protection and worth lie in her adherence to the Sharīʿah. Her religious dignity and protection are according to the extent that she preserves her ḥijāb and her religion. This is an honor bestowed upon the woman. To the degree that she abandons these manners and values, Allāh humiliates her. She will have neither status nor honor. And whoever Allāh humiliates, no one can honor. Perhaps she seeks suitors yet finds none, while people look at her with contempt. And if she does find one, she finds an immoral man who brings calamities upon her. She does not find a righteous man. The recompense is of the same nature as the deed. As for the modest and protected woman, because of the religion she possesses, Allāh prepares for her someone who honors her, and she lives a noble life with a righteous husband. All of this is from Allāh's honoring of the righteous person, whether male or female. Many immoral women who expose themselves to corruption experience bitterness in life, misery, hardship, distress, humiliation, violation of their honor, mockery from others, and a broken spirit. They do not live a good life. This is the condition of prostitutes and those who expose themselves to temptation. They do not find the happiness that the modest, religious woman finds whether among men or women. "Whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer, We shall certainly grant him a good life, and We shall surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do." ( An-Naḥl 16:97) Many women in the West have mentioned this: they envy the woman who is honored by her father, then honored by her husband, then honored by her children, brothers, and family.
