Puncak musim kemarau di Kalimantan kembali memicu kebakaran hutan dan lahan (karhutla) yang meluas di berbagai wilayah, seperti Kalimantan Tengah, Barat, dan Selatan. Kepungan kabut asap pekat kini menutupi permukiman dan menurunkan kualitas udara hingga level berbahaya bagi kesehatan. Dampaknya melumpuhkan aktivitas harian warga, memicu penundaan penerbangan, bahkan telah merambah ke wilayah tetangga dan memaksa pemerintah Malaysia menutup ratusan sekolah di negara bagian Sarawak.

Berikut delapan tuntutan yang disampaikan BEM UI: 1. Menghentikan apa yang disebut sebagai penjajahan negara atas rakyat sendiri. 2. Menghentikan korupsi, kolusi, dan nepotisme (KKN). 3. Mewujudkan reforma agraria sejati. 4. Menurunkan harga kebutuhan pokok dan bahan bakar minyak (BBM). 5. Mengevaluasi total Proyek Strategis Nasional (PSN), sekaligus menghentikan program Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) dan Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP). 6. Menghentikan pemusatan kekuasaan dan pemangkasan Transfer ke Daerah (TKD), serta mengembalikan otonomi daerah. 7. Menetapkan status bencana nasional untuk daerah Sumatra dan Flores serta mempercepat pemulihan wilayah terdampak bencana. 8. Menghentikan tindakan represif dan intervensi TNI-Polri dalam ruang sipil serta membubarkan YON TP.

Have you ever wondered why you haven’t seen any news about Palestine these days? Please be aware when you encounter these kinds of thoughts because it’s really concerning how we barely received any media about them. Do not stay silent when you think about it. Voice it out. Because when we think that way, the fact is indeed we barely get updates about Palestine because the Palestinian journalists there are getting deliberately murdered. It’s important to know that journalists in conflict zones are legally protected as civilians under international humanitarian law, primarily through Article 79 of Additional Protocol I of the Geneva Conventions, provided they take no direct part in hostilities. Deliberately targeting or killing a journalist is classified as a war crime. And yes. I repeat, journalists in Palestine are DELIBERATELY murdered. Not just one or two of them, but hundreds of them. Therefore we should pay attention to the fact that if journalists were murdered, what about the civilians? They are not in a safe position either. Men, women, elderly people, even innocent children—none of them are safe from humanity’s violation grip.
