The Gnome of Girona was a mysterious creature that was found in Girona, Spain, in 1989 & described as being just under 5 inches tall. It had bluish skin and was lacking any hair or fur. It had long ears, a rodent-like snout & a strange bulbous mass on its head According to the initial story, a group of hikers reportedly came across the creature. They heard a "kind of scream that reminded us of an old man's laugh" as they chased the strange being down to catch it. The Gnome of Girona was alive for 24 hours after its capture and it was delivered, still alive, to a parapsychologist named Ángel Gordon. Upon its death, the specimen was placed into a jar of formaldehyde to preserve it. Later on, researcher Francisco Contreras discovered that the initial group of hikers never existed at all. The story spread by media was fake. The actual man that discovered the gnome was a resident of Girona named Manuel Tello. However, researchers now believe that it was all a hoax and the creature was a malformed rabbit fetus.
