A 36-year-old man attacked two women in a motel room with blows to the head, before setting the room on fire, killing one of the women - 29-year-old Josiele S.d.S. - and leaving the other woman, 28, in a grave condition.
According to the Civil Police delegate, the suspect allegedly went to the motel with one of the women around 3:00 AM. Around five minutes later, a second woman also arrived at the location. Subsequently, an argument allegedly occurred inside the room.
At the scene, objects such as a machete and other items believed to have been used in the crime - a "lot of alcohol", a vehicle tyre, a hydraulic jack, a rock-breaking tool, and a machete - were found.
The man, described as having a strong build, allegedly attacked the victims with blows to the head and then attempted to set the room on fire. The fire was brought under control by motel employees with assistance from paramedics.
