Speaking at SIMS 2026 this November. I’ll be joining the AI for Good panel to share some of what we’ve learned building Addis AI and talk about what creating meaningful impact with AI looks like in practice. Excited for the conversation. @Kalbuilds

Finally, a clean open Amharic speech dataset 🇪🇹🎙️ We ran it through 7 ASR systems to stress-test the labels. it held up clean, even the best models track the references tightly (CER 8–14). the ground truth is legit. 😊Read the full blog @b1n1yamBuilds

Been waiting to share this one. The listening test was fully blind, so nobody knew which model they were hearing or which one was ours. Same text, no names, just Amharic speakers rating what they heard. Makes the results a lot more interesting when nobody knows who they’re supposed to be rooting for. Full results: 😊addisassistant.com/benchmarks/addis-voice-2-amharic Dataset: 😊 huggingface.co/datasets/addisai/amharic-tts-benchmark @kalBuilds

Looking for a video editor. We’re looking for someone to help us turn long-form conversations and podcast footage into short videos for Addis AI. A big part of the job is knowing what to cut. You should be able to watch a conversation and spot the moments that are actually worth turning into a clip, without us having to give you every timestamp. Most of the content is around AI, product, startups, and building Addis AI. We care more about good pacing, clean subtitles, and good judgment than heavy effects. If you’re interested, send 2–3 examples of your work, your rate, and your usual turnaround time to @AddisAIOpportunities. @kalBuilds

Most of these started with something annoying us enough times that we finally made a rule for it. Worth reading if you use coding agents a lot. @kalBuilds

Since you guys were patient with us while we scaled things up yesterday, here’s a little thank you coupon code from us: 😊ADDIS-VOICE2-THANKYOU Use it while it’s live @kalBuilds

We’re seeing unusually high demand right now. If you’re experiencing latency or timeouts, bear with us while we scale things up. We’re currently registering around ~1.2K new users/day, while also expanding capacity. We’re moving fast to keep up with the demand. This should be fixed shortly. Thanks for being patient. @kalBuilds

Afaan Oromo has 41 million speakers. The frontier models don’t sound native. We gave ElevenLabs, Google, and OpenAI the same script we gave our model.  Sound on. @kalBuilds

I asked @b1n1yamBuilds to take pictures at the Cursor AI Hackathon, but he spent the whole day avoiding every camera. I had to wait for the 1hr+ ETV coverage and pause through it just to get a few screenshots of him 😭 @Kalbuilds

One startup program I think is worth applying for is NVIDIA Inception. We’ve been part of it while building Addis AI, and it’s made a real difference for us. It gives you access to cloud and GPU credits, technical resources, training, and partner benefits that are usually hard to get on your own. To apply, your startup should be less than 10 years old, have a working website, and have at least one developer on the team. That developer can also be one of the founders. You’ll need someone who can properly answer the technical questions in the application. The part you should prepare properly is how NVIDIA fits into what you’re building. What are you already using? What do you plan to use? How would access to their GPUs, products, and technical ecosystem actually help you build or scale? It’s free, they don’t take equity, and from our experience, it’s worth the application. Apply here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/startups/ @kalBuilds

A voice carries more than words. It carries where we come from, the stories we grew up with, the people we love, and the feeling of home. This is what we want our technology to preserve and carry forward. ኢትዮጵያዊነት በፈገግታ ይታያል፣ በድምፅ ይሰማል። ድምፃችን። ድምፃችሁ። @addisassistantai

This made me emotional the first time I saw it. The smiles, the children, the stories, the voices. It feels less like a product and more like a piece of home. So proud of the team behind this. @kalBuilds

ቋንቋ እንደ ተፈጥሮ የራሱ የሆነ ሪትምና እስትንፋስ አለው። Language, like nature, has its own rhythm and breath. Made with Addis AI (Voice: Yohannes) 😊addisassistant.com #contentCreation@kalBuilds

Most of you picked content creation and customer support, so I’m putting together a few demos around both. But I’m still curious about the 8 people who chose “something completely different” What are you trying to build? @kalBuilds

Same words. Four voices. Which one would you use? @kalBuilds

Wish I could’ve been there today. This looks so good. Would’ve loved to see what the teams were building on top of Addis AI.

Quite a lot of local solutions being built on top of Addis AI, solving real problems. Honestly, this feels special.
