After all this time, we finally get to sit across from each other like this again. How have you been all this time? You look even more beautiful than I remember. Honestly, seeing you again makes me realize how much time has passed and how much I've missed without even realizing it. Our relationship should have been something warm and good for both of us, but I was too careless with you. I took your presence for granted, I overlooked your feelings, and I made you feel like what we had didn't matter as much as it should have. I know saying sorry now won't change any of that. It won't erase the moments when you felt ignored, disappointed, or alone because of me. I was selfish, and there were so many times when I could have chosen to understand you better but chose not to. I'm sorry for making you feel like you had to ask for the bare minimum from someone who was supposed to care about you. I'm sorry for every time I made you question whether you were important to me, when the truth is that you were. I know this is a late apology, and maybe I no longer have the right to ask you to accept it. But I still wanted to say it properly, face to face. I regret the way I treated you, and I regret that I only understood the weight of my mistakes after losing you. I'm not here to ask you to come back or to fix what we've already broken. I just wanted you to hear me say that I'm truly sorry.

Can you please stop bothering me after this? I genuinely don't have any desire to sit down and talk to you, not after everything you've done. I honestly don't understand how you can still have the confidence to ask me to meet you, to talk to you, even to keep reaching out after you were the one who hurt me in the first place. Do you have any idea how humiliating and painful that feels for me? You ignored my feelings, you ignored the boundaries, and you acted like what happened between you and your friend was something I was supposed to simply accept and move past. I won't call it micro-cheating just to make it sound less terrible. Cheating is cheating. You knew there were lines you shouldn't cross, and you crossed them anyway. What hurts me most is that I trusted you enough to believe you would never be that person to me. I defended you, gave you the benefit of the doubt, and kept trying to understand you even when I was the one getting hurt. And after all of that, I'm still the one left carrying the memories while you can just show up again and expect me to talk to you like none of it happened. I don't want your excuses or another conversation that makes me question whether my feelings were ever valid. I spent enough time trying to understand you. This time, I need you to understand me. I don't want you in my life anymore, so please, for once, respect the boundary you should have respected from the beginning and leave me alone. I don't hate you, and maybe that's the saddest part. I just wish I could look at you and feel nothing, because it would be so much easier than still being hurt by someone I once trusted with so much of me.

Thank you for asking me out to dinner. Are you doing okay? You look like you've lost quite a bit of weight since the last time we saw each other. There's actually something I've wanted to say for a long time because I don't think I ever properly apologized to you. I know I was childish and selfish back then, and I know my attitude made things much harder for you than they needed to be. You were patient with me, you kept trying, and you still tried to hold on to us even when I made it difficult, so thank you for that. And I'm sorry for the things I did back then, especially for crossing your boundaries and making you carry the weight of things that should've been mine to deal with. I really hope you never end up in a relationship that feels that exhausting again. Looking back, I realize how much my pride and apathy hurt you. I acted like I was the only one who needed to be understood, when a relationship was never supposed to revolve around just one person. It was about you too. I should've listened to you more, cared about what you felt, and made room for you instead of always making everything about me. I'm not saying all of this because I want to fix anything between us or because I'm hoping we can go back to what we were. I just don't want to carry this feeling of owing you an apology forever. There are things I should've said properly a long time ago, and maybe I'll regret it if I never say them. So if this really is the last time we'll ever sit down and talk like this, I just want you to know that I'm sorry, and that despite how badly things ended, I haven't forgotten the patience and effort you once gave me.
