| 19 | May 27, 1942, 84 years ago today, Stellvertretender Reichsführer-SS and acting Reichsprotektor of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, Reinhard Heydrich was attacked, and severely injured.
He was ambushed by two British trained Czechoslovakian assassins, Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš in what they called operation Anthropoid. A planned assassination to kill Reinhard Heydrich in the Prague district of Libeň, at a sharp curve in the road near what is today the intersection of Zenklova and V Holešovičkách streets while he was on his way to Prague Castle.
However, Reinhard Heydrich did not go like a coward, and despite his critical injuries he attempted to pursue and chase down his assassins with his personal firearm, but ultimately collapsed due to his injuries and would pass away on June 4th, 1942.
In retaliation for this attack from these traitors and terrorists, the Reich would carry out an intense manhunt where they would find and kill these two Czechoslovakian terrorists in a shootout at Saints Cyril and Methodius Cathedral, on June 18, 1942.
