Loneliness is a strange thing. At first, you think that only a few people are missing from your life. But then, after a day, you realize that you've become so accustomed to their absence that their presence feels foreign to you. You no longer expect messages from anyone, and you have no one to share the small events of your day with. Gradually, you learn to keep everything to yourself. The irony is that when people realize you're lonely, they say, "Don't worry, someone will come along." It's as if loneliness is a station, and eventually, a train of salvation will arrive. But usually, no train ever comes. It's just you, a quiet room, and a whole lot of things you no longer even have the energy to talk about.
